You have to be careful with your bar selection. Try to find something high in protein, low in sugar.

o MetRx has a great bar with 40g protein and 0g sugar, but they are like $2.50 each. Taste is meh.
o Clif Bars now makes a Bodybuilding bar with 20g protein, and those are $1.00 each. They are delicious.
o BalanceBare makes a 13g protein bar for $0.50 each. Only 12g sugar, 210 calories.

Any of these bars are good. Even South Beach bars are good, since they have decent protein and low carbs.

I usually get these ones (not this flavour though): http://www.nationalnutrition.ca/detail.aspx?ID=2219 because they have fake sugar and have 25 grams of protein. I try to limit my overall sugar intake, so these work well for me they use sucralose. Taste is slightly above average IMO.

The Clif bars Safeway mentioned are freaking delicious, but they do have 20g of sugar, so I tend to stay away from them.

Yea, all the good bars are $3.00 each!

Actually, the Met-Rx bar I referred to has 32g of protein, not 40g. It also only has 2g of Sugar. I just found them online for $24/12 bars.

Link? 32g of protein is nice, and the 2g of sugar seems great.

Bodybuilding.com Met-Rx Link

I can vouch for Chocolate Chocolate Chunk, Chocolate Fudge Deluxe, and Chocolate Roasted Peanut with Caramel. They are not the best tasting bars around, but they are definitely huge, filling, and edible.

Sweet, thanks. As long as they don't make me want to vomit, it's all good.

Link to these somewhere please?

Eh, I bought them at Target for $0.48/each. These are the bars I usually eat mid-day. I eat Met-Rx bars while biking or around a workout for added protein.

I spread my six meals throughout the day, so a bar will count as a snack/meal.

I eat a Clif Builder bar only after a lifting workout, and I make sure that is the only sugar (besides a piece of fruit or a yogurt) that I have that day. Plenty of protein, and a nice reward for an hour of lifting.

I just eat the basic PowerBar ProtienPlus, as they have two flavors I like. 23g protein, 38g carb, of which 19g are sugars.

With my being diebetic, I avoid added sugar like the plague. As I've mentioned in a prev thread, for the most part I avoid foods where processed sugar is in the first 5 ingrediants-so this puts most "nutrition" bars out. Shitload of sugar in alot of them.

For me, I use (I know it sounds funny, but theyre very healthy) the south beach diet bars. I usually use the meal replacement bars for breakfast with a couple fruits. Very little added processed sugar (1g), 210 cal, 26g carb, 19g protein, and filled with vitamins. For snacks I exclusively eat Kashi bars. Zero added processed sugar, and the only sweeteners they use is honey and brown sugar. I eat about 2 or 3/day of those.

I was looking at some MetRX bars since so many use them...Ive looked at a few and theyre loaded with processed sugar...Corn Syrup, Brown Rice Syrup, Sugar, Confectioners Glaze, Fructose.......

Is this normal for all their bars?

Tried southbeach, powerbar, snickers power, and anything that Sams or Costco has... I couldn't eat Powerbar cause it gave me stomachaches. snickers tastes good but lack in nutrition. southbeach is ok.
