If I remove a motherboard's battery which I think is near exhaustion to replace it, doesn't this reset the bios to default ? Or does this ruin the bios ? In short is this safe to do ?

i think it will reset the bios. don't worry, it's pretty safe... unless u spill a cup of water on the mobo while changing the battery. but hey... what are the chances of that happening.

I'm pretty sure that just keeps your bios settings. Your bios will reset to default configs, and you'll have to chagne everything again, but thats it.

Paolo, it's safe to do, all removing the CMOS battery does is reset the BIOS options to their default. :)
