I found the story and the skepticism that followed rather interesting. I've never seen a thread completely disappear before. Anyone know what happened?
People started pretending they were the Hardy Boys and doing their little detective work. That's fine. But when details of his address; enough to be sufficient to find the rest of the details started getting posted, that violated the forum rules. It was late last night and I had already posted in that thread. By by our moderator rules I should do all I could to avoid being the one who issued vacations/infractions/warning; but lacking someone to step in at that moment to smack down a few members, I moved the thread to the recycle bin, at least temporarily, until someone had a chance to cleanse the personal details out of that thread, a manual, post by post process, including quoted posts. The moderator who got to it this morning noted that those posting personal information had clean, or relatively clean records, thus they were given warnings. I'm not sure anyone has been ambitious enough to go through the thread and remove the personal information yet, or if anyone will.
It's worth noting that the OP of that thread did *NOT* request action from the moderators. But, posting personal information is a relatively blatant violation of what we expect here, thus without the OP's request, that situation was dealt with.
