i'm not saying I believe the guy, but how does determining his address prove or suggest he was lying?

(1) address allows ATOT to determine location of the event.
(2) A robbery that big would be on the police blotter. There would also be police reports, and it might even make the TV news.
(3) lack of ANY evidence as well as the person's history suggest 'lie'

B/c from knowing his address, folks were able to look-up the police reports for location and found nothing to back-up his claim.

I got warned about posting his personal info as well, so I'm guessing it was sent off to PFI. Even though I used vague locational markers to prove to the OP I knew his address, where he and his wife collect mail, as well as where their businesses collected mail. I did not however post his address.

Neither location had a police report filed, so I called him a liar and he complained to the mods.

The OP of that thread must be pretty sensitive. I think he complained to the mods or something. I bumped one of his related threads (that had been mentioned many times in the House thread) and got an infraction because it was seen as "harassment." Then they locked the thread I bumped. They probably did something to the House thread at his request.
