He didn't bother me too much. There were times when he could be an annoying punk but then again, no one forced me to read his little rants.
Anyways, I don't think that his post that banned him was very justifiable. I've seen worse posted and nothing has happened.

I was just banned from AnandTech Forums by one of their moderators, who accused me of being rude to one of the members there. The member that I was accused of being rude to just happens to be an elite member, and there are rumors that he might be a moderator himself. This makes a huge difference as to what the moderator might consider ?rude?. I merely said a slightly discouraging comment.
Based on my experience at the AnandTech forums, I believe that the AnandTech moderators are highly biased, judgmental, and sometimes dictatorial. When they tell you our out, you?re out, justifiable or not. When you?re a member whose not liked a whole lot by the moderators on the forums, they will count the smallest thing against you. Any attempt to negotiate your accusation is basically your word against theirs. The moderators are much harsher when there is an elite member involved. Elite members are usually given protection from suspension/termination and they can pretty much get away with anything they say.
The moderators know that they are in total control of the forums, and many users are beginning to notice that they are abusing that power. An example would be when the moderator?s stickied (holding a topic at the top of the forum) an elite member?s post seeking to fundraise money for Ulfwald, also an elite member. Many feel that the moderators run the forum in a manner that is beneficial for only the elite members. Other threads that were created asking for a fundraiser (not by an elite member) were quickly locked or deleted.
There is a rumor that many elite members are in fact moderators. At one point, a list was leaked of users who are actually AnandTech moderators, although I?m not sure of its authenticity. However, moderators are supposed to be act as role models representing AnandTech and should act professional. Instead they hold grudges against other members who might say something harsh against them, and end up banning those they don?t like. At the same time, other members can say anything they want freely because they might be friends of the moderators.
In an email I once received from a moderator, it read,
?You must be one sick idiot to post to complain about some guy peeing outdoors. I do not care how much it offends you. It is tasteless, and it is an inappropriate topic for our forums. One week off, this time. Next time, it may be permanent.

I don?t know about you, but I don?t think using terms like ?sick idiot? and stating personal opinions is a professional attitude for someone moderating the forums on behalf of AnandTech.

As far as I can remember, that?s pretty much all I said. Whatever it was, I never had any personal offense in it, yet that?s all it took to get me banned from the forums! Meanwhile, his response towards me was much more hostile, and he gets away with it supposedly because he?s an elite member, or possibly even a moderator.
This is what he says about me :

See? It appears to me that personal insults are perfectly fine as long as you?re an elite member. Its been well known that the elite member Red Dawn is rude to a lot of people, yet he stays because he is personally close to the moderators.
Feel free to submit any material from the forums that you believe is to be linked to favoritism and prejudice on AnandTech:

An anonymous AnandTech forums member have just reported me that ?Red Dawn?, a member whose alleged to have moderator access has used his moderator privilege to obtain users? passwords, then gained unauthorized access to these user?s account on other forums using these passwords. I?ve been notified that some people had their sig lines tampered. It appears user passwords are accessible to these questionable AnandTech moderators. I have not confirmed this myself, but I urge you to use a dedicated password on your AnandTech account and NEVER use your email, ISP or other forums? password. If your AT password is common with your other services, you should immediately change the password on your other services.
I'm pretty sure Red Dawn is a moderator. I had my other account banned 2 years ago when I call Red Dawn's friend(KevinX) a thief in a thread, even though I showed proof that he was one. No one believed me and I was banned shortly after my making my posts. I was given no explanation to why I was banned and my e-mails to moderators were ignored. A month later KevinX ripped someone off here at Anandtech and was banned. I e-mailed the moderators and of course I was still ignored.
I was clued in to the fact that Red Dawn was a moderator and had abused his power by another AT member. It all made sense when I put it all together.
