Hello, or when I worked at Kmart, "Thank you for calling your friendly West Branch Big Kmart, home of the flashing blue light. How may I direct your call." One time some lady asked, "What, you are flashing me under a big blue light?"

I sometimes say zdrastvuitye just because I like the way it sounds. It confuses people too. ;)

Work phone: "Hello, ___ Lab, insert name here, how may I help you?"
Cell phone: all dependent on callerID. Hello for normal people. People who waste minutes "You better talk fast"

Or even worse thanking them for calling when they are hanging up.

I use the standard hello.

"WTF do you want?"

Most of time it works, I barely get calls anymore. I especially love it when my mom calls me.

I used to say "Party line!" a la Fresh Prince before one of my sister's friends started catching on. Then it got boring.

A good "Nnnnnnyello?" is always good. :D

Work: Hello, <my name> speaking.

Home: Hello.
Friends: Hey.

Feeling froggy... "Domino's pizza". I've done that too much, never fools anyone anymore.

I need to start answering it 'Emergency Room' or something. I'm getting a lot of wrong #'s because there's a hospital # 2 digits off from mine. I could probably find out more than I wanted too about some people.

Speaking of weird phone things... when I was younger my sisters used to make a dash for the door or the phone (Before anyone else could get it). I got into the habit of saying doorbell or phone when one would ring (I don't really remember why, we just all used to yell it for some reason?!!). Most of the time I knew it wasn't for me and I got tired of being the answering machine.

Then one day I switched what I'd say (yell doorbell when the phone rang). A few times I fooled them into picking up the phone when the doorbell rang and vice versa. It was funny at the time. They laughed too. We were kids, what can I say.

An old friend from college used to say "papsmear"

don't ask

I say, "hallo?" or "hallo <insert name from caller ID>."

Or I say "hello?" or "hello <insert name from caller ID>."

"It is she speaking. . . ."

"This is <insert name>"

"Can I help you?"

"Who would you like to speak to? . . . And who's this?"

I answer with one of a few things:

"Ja, hallo?" with a slight german accent
"yes, hello" with a pakistani/indian sounding accent
or just hello, depends...ill get caller id, cant wait to mess the newspaper salesman to hell and back

besides, use the accent and just repeat the greeting if its someone you dont want to talk to, otherwise tell em youre jokin, this has helped me avoid quite a few unwanted conversations lately :)
