Hello everyone.

This is my current PC:

Ryzen 2600 (5600X arriving tomorrow)
Asrock B450M Steel Legend
OLOY 2x16GB 3200Mhz
XPG 750W Power Supply
RX 5700XT Nitro +

I live in Brazil, and hardware prices here are crazy so dont try to compare with US/Europe prices...

I currently play on 1080p 144hz monitor (next year planning to get a 1440p). I also play VR games on Quest 2.

My options are:

EVGA 3060 Ti FTW ULTRA $742
MSI AMD 6800 (reference card) $976
Gigabyte 3070 Gaming OC $976

So considering my local prices which one is a better upgrade from my 5700XT ? (I will probably sell it for $490)

Your going to turn off raytracing anyway on all these cards. So ignore it as a feature.

The 3060 Ti is about a 21% upgrade over your 5700 xt.
The 3070 is about a 30% upgrade over your 5700 xt.
The 6800 is about a 28% upgrade over your 5700 xt.

The 3070 is about 7% faster then the 3060 Ti.
The 6800 is about 6% faster then the 3060 Ti.
The 3070 is about 2% faster then the 6800.

Reject the rx 6800, unless you need 16 GB of vram. The 3070 and 3060 Ti both have 8 GB of vram, likely enough for the near future. That means your 5700xt has enough also.

The 3070 is costing you 22% more for 7% more performance verses the 3060 Ti.

Your choice.

( Personally, none of those upgrades look compelling to me. I would wait for the next round in your situation. )

I think 3060 Ti is fast enough for 1440p?

Definitely*.

*assuming your not doing ray tracing. But if you are doing ray tracing nothing is going to be good, with the 3080/3090 barely being ok-ish. Ray Tracing feels like it needs another generation in the cooker.

I dont know where you get your numbers but RX6800 has the bigger increase of performance over his RX5700XT between the three cards.
Unless you only care about the small list of current RT games, at the same price with the 3070 the RX6800 is simple the better product especially for 1080/1440p.

I found someone who agreed with my views on raytracing!:

I felt your response was really good. Well researched and informative. But your numbers and mine are actually similar**.

My nitpick is I do not believe Dimelus's mainboard supports Smart Access Memory, so he may see between 0% to 6% less performance with the rx6000 series then your chart depending on the game. I checked your article, and it did not seem to indicate test setup?

I pulled my numbers from gpu comparison:

I know it is far from perfect, but it is a quick way to compare cards in real world setups. It also does not factor in raytracing or dlss, which I like. It is synthetic benchmarks, which are not as useful as real game testing. On the flip side, it does not depend on nvidia/amd for review samples, so it is less likely to toe marketing line. It is getting its money from computer generated hardware link sales, so it seems relatively trustworthy to me. But the best thing, by far, is it makes comparisons easy and fast.

The first chart you posted has the min fps of the 6800 non-xt at 110.
the min fps of the 5700xt at 76.

76 / 110 = .69 = 69%
100% - 69% = 31% increase in performance according to your chart

I believe I said it was 28% increase. There is about a 3% difference between my numbers and yours. Factor in SAM, and it is going to be very close.

Both of the above reviews dont use SAM.

Techpowerup is using a Intel Core i9 9900K @ 5GHz and Techspot/Hardware Unboxed a AMD Ryzen 3950X
