But the DX11 according to steam is like 95% AMD - 5% NVIDIA. See I can do fanboy numbers too.
What does that have to do with anything? DirectX isn't vendor-specific. Developers don't have to choose AMD vs nVidia for a new DirectX version. It's safe to assume that both vendors will support each new version of DirectX, even though one may be a few months sooner to market than the other. You don't have to rewrite your code... DX11 applications that were released before Fermi will just work.
Now for more accurate current markshare http://www.crn.com/hardware/225000002, discrete market 49.7% - 50.3%. Is discrete only acceptable or you want IGPs if you believe IGPs can do hardware physX?
Those are sales figures, not an indication of the installed base. Currently AMD sells about as well as nVidia (partly because nVidia was late with DX11 parts, but they may claw back sales now)... but nVidia has FAR more hardware on the market that is capable of GPU-accelerated physics. nVidia has all 8-series and higher. AMD only has the 4000 and 5000-series. Steam is a much better indication of what people currently own.
