OK guys I'm getting my first PC capable of playing proper 3D games for many years tomorrow; what do you recommend? It'll have an A64 3200 and X800 GTO². I'm a C&C nut so I'm getting Generals and Zero Hour and I'll probably get HL2 but after that I'm struggling a bit. What do people recommend?

Everyone raves about Far Cry and now it's under £10 I'll probably pick that up. Is there a huge difference between the BF and CoD series? I was looking at FEAR but it seems like it would bring my system to it's knees on my 19" tft; maybe one for later.

But other than that I'm not really too clued up on good games. Games recommended that are no longer selling at top quite whack are especially appreciated :p.

The BF series are for online play. You fight against a bunch of other players on relatively large battlefields and you get to choose your character class (sniper, engineer, medic, etc). CoD is a single player game that has a very cinematic, but linear, gameplay style. Both series have demos so download those and give it a try before you buy anything.

Mechwarrior4 Compilation. Set difficulty to Elite and have at it ;)

(comprises MW4 Vengeance, MW4 Mercenaries, and MW4 Black Knight, plus I think you get the Mech Pack too)

BF2 + SF

Couldn't tell ya more as BF2 is using up all my time. If you're into racing, check out NFS Most Wanted.

When you've completed these, try Call of Duty 1 then 2 (because 1 is worth playing too) and half life 2. Then, when you're prepared, embark upon the WoW experience.:laugh::evil:

I really hope you're not in the Technical Support forum tomorrow with a new thread:

First gaming rig for years won't boot!
Please help guys

It seems every time I get excited about a new part, I'm straight over to that place :(
See my current thread there.

It's challenging, sharp graphics and badass animations eg: dreadnoughts crushing orks in their massive fists then chucking the corpse across the battlefield, it's fast paced in mp, strategies are varied due to many units and upgrades. Oh and the sound is good too. War sounds like war :)
