Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest... and Crystal Chronicles
CC was a tough sell for a lot of folks, but I had a group of dedicated people. We got together Friday and Saturday nights and I think we finished it in a bit over a month.

Soulblade - Grew into Soul Calibur, but no matter how many people I know that had PS1s no one ever seemed to know this game existed.

Oh yeah! Soul Blade for PS1 was awesome, but was not widely played at the time. I actually first played this game as Soul Edge the arcade game - Soul Blade saved me a lot of quarters. Good times... :)

Soul Edge/Blade was extremely popular.

I'm sure it must have been to have spawned all the subsequent Soul Calibur sequels, but back in 1997-98 it just seemed that no one had ever heard of the game everytime I mentioned it. Of course, that is highly anecdotal.

Anachronox, dont think many people played that, but it was a great RPG at the time.

Are you talking about this? http://www.metacritic.com/game...ments?q=Dark%20Messiah

- Dark Sector was a solid experience, but there's no reason to ever play it again once you complete the single player, which doesn't last very long.
- I've enjoyed all of the main Dynasty Warriors games (but never played the Empires or XL versions), but I couldn't get into DW6 and think I'm ready for a proper sequel.

I swear there have to be some better examples, but I can't think of them at the moment.

EDF2017 has my interest piqued...

This looks like a classic B Movie type game where either you love it or hate.

The Dark Sector demo is available on XBL, might be worth checking out. I think I recall seeing this game at GameCrazy for less than $10.

I liked that game too but the laggy controls where what prevented it from being great. I nearly did my nut trying to haul down the Star Destroyer before I figured out you could just Force Lightning the TIE Fighters rather than throwing junk at them. :p

I thought of a couple more. Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire. Everybody keeps saying it's the weakest of the franchise but I like it more than previous two generations.

Micorsoft Combat Flight Simulator 3: panned for it's difficulty to mod and it's graphics issues, I thought the dynamic campaign was pretty neat.

Flower on PS3: Yeah, it's short and there's not much to it but it's just so relaxing to play it. I don't know why it got hammered so much in the reviews. The part where they said it takes a turn downward after the third level is BS.

I've played most of the Dynasty Warrior games and generally enjoy them, but it seems to really be either a hit or a miss with people (usually the latter).

Also, the topic is about games that you like that most tend to dislike... not games that most haven't heard of.

One that sticks out in my mind is "Critical Depth" for the PS1. I loved that game. I probably put more hours into that game than every other game I've ever played outside of Unreal Tournament and Diablo II. IMO, it's the best vehicular combat game ever... think Twisted Metal with submarines. You get Twsited Metal action, but you can attack and be attacked from any direction (like a flight game).

It's not cause it's a bad game, cause it's far from that ... it's just that many people don't know about it. it's very cartoony and looks very childish as a golf game, however, the physics engine in the game is the best one on the market. it also ads so much stuff to the golf game that makes it a blast.

the game ships with only 6 courses and has 2 DLC ones, and the 6 courses are ALL better than any of the 20 or so on Tiger Woods 2009 imo.

it's the best golf game hands down, and probably my favorite game on PS3.

I have all the HSG games, starting from the 1st one on PSX. The the series is tits! It easy to pickup, but difficult to master, just like the real thing. I just don't have the time to play it all the time like I did in the past. But I have all the courses in Out of Bounds. And I bought Kratos for the LOL.

The ones I can think of:

Too Human
Assassin's Creed
Dark Sector
Time shift

Dark Sector and Time shift have MP but I only did the SP for them.

Did anyone like Clive Barker's Jericho? This game has nothing over a 63 on metacritic for PC/PS3/360.

Once they released the final unofficial patch to Anachronox, it was stable. An amazing storyline tried together with memorable characters (the character-specific mini plot arcs were incredible), the only downside I found was the combat and leveling system felt cut-and-pasted from JRPGs.

I thought the demo for the 360 was decent, I was going to rent it but blockbuster didn't have it.

Ahhh Yeah! I LOVED that game. My friends and I played that for hours and hours. Those damned First Blitzers though... tough bastards if you only had a couple of players. We once got 4 of us playing together and took it to them. Didn't even try to score, just beat them down and won by KO. So satisfying.

Anyway, I've still got the game. It works on the 360, except the emulation isn't perfect and the music screws up at times. This is one game I really wish would have a sequel, but I know it will never happen due to lackluster sales :(

James Bond 007 for the Atari 5200.

I love that game today even. Still have it along with the Atari 5200 that i had as a child.

Wow, I really can't get over what an absolute piece of [expletive] this game is. Not only is it terribly unpleasant to play, but the entire concept behind it is idiotic. It's hard to believe someone actually gave the "go ahead" to this ill-advised project. James Bond 007 begins with an incredibly shabby intro that borders on embarrassing. First you see a huge James Bond character getting into a tiny yellow car. Next, the car's wheels inexplicably begin to blink, and then the car shrinks down even smaller. The accompanying theme song is decent, but the visuals look positively half-assed. The intro is followed by a nausea-inducing first stage that perfectly embodies the game as a whole. Looking like a half-baked Moon Patrol knock-off, you jump over craters will shooting blue "diamonds" floating in the night sky. Bomb-dropping satellites fly just overhead, but inexplicably, you cannot shoot them! Soon you find yourself moving over water while doing the same damn thing, except now you have to deal with shooting divers. If you're sadomasochistic enough to complete the stage, you can expect equally brain-dead gameplay in the stages to come. Each level is supposedly based on a different Bond film, but they all look and play pretty much the same - crappy! Did Parker Bros. really think the Bond license alone would justify this inexcusable tripe? I'm still waiting for them to issue a formal apology to the gamers of the world. © Copyright 2006 The Video Game Critic.

It still amazes me that Okami wasn't a runaway hit (even though it got a lot of critical acclaim). Amazing graphic and sound design, an epic storyline, fun puzzle/platforming mechanics, lots of collectables/side quests/exploration rewards. It may very well be my favorite gaming experience ever.

I actually enjoyed Deus Ex 2 as well. I had never played the first, and someone gave me Deus Ex 2 as a gift. I didn't have any preconceived notions of what the game should be, so I just played it. It was fun.

I came in here to post the same thing!

I had Oni for the PC. Damn good game.
Screw you Microsoft, for forcing a company to stick to a single game. Now that Bungie might be doing other things... I demand an Oni sequel, with PC release! That game was just pure fun. :)
