I'll post some more when I remember.

I just thought of another game, Resident Evil: Dead Aim.

I thought the game's combination of exploration and classic RE gameplay with intense light-gun driven combat was just amazing, I also loved the way you had to held the dualshock and the guncon, it felt you were actually drawing your gun. It was a very immersive experience, I loved it.

It was not very well received though, it had its fair share of problems and the plot, levels and gameplay were not as refined as one could have hoped for but the intensity of the experience and the level of immersion were enough for me to overlook those issues.

I wish Capcom would further refine that line of gameplay, exploration plus light-gun combat is an awesome idea and it would work wonders on the Wii.

CRAP!!!!

I remember playing that game all the time. I never did pass it though. Hell I even had 32x and had a game called Corpse Killer that was FMV and killing zombies. Really horrible game but liked it cus of FMV. I loved FMV games cus it was like playing a real movie. Damn I miss those type of games.

Thanks for the link. Remember all the Sewer Shark fun I used to have.

Yeah it was ok. Awesome battle system

Yeah, it was actually a lot of fun. The game was paced a lot faster than FFX, and was less melodramatic (although the plot was pretty contrived).

The dress-spheres were awesome.

The AVGN reviewed it. Called it S--t Shark. :p
I remember when the FMV games first came out. I thought Rebel Assault II was just awesome. They're all so corny now.

I've always been attracted to the underdog systems so I think every game I've played qualifies under this thread. lol

Oni was good but too short and the ending was kind of dull. It was more of a game that needed a bit more polish and it would've been fantastic.

So I am not alone .

EA wasn't bad if you turned Japanese voices on, but my God... the English voices were horrific, but I thought the game was actually decent. I mean, if you see it for $20, I think you ought to pick it up.

That's because nothing really changes :p. In 6 they added the ability to climb ladders and junk, which isn't much of an innovation, not to mention they keep making side games. Like I have Warriors Orochi and Samurai Warriors, which the prior is nothing more than DW+SW. Samurai Warriors on the PSP (which I also have) is actually kinda fun and a lot more of a strategy game as it's not nearly as easy as the normal game. If you make a single mistake, it'll cost you the entire battle most of the time... very unforgiving.

My favorite has to be Dynasty Warriors: Gundam... it's just so much fun.

Lufia: The Legend Returns
I think people were moving on to the GBA at this point, so this game sort of got lost in the shuffle. Great RPG:

- lots of items and equipment to collect
- plenty of unique NPCs
- you could have up to nine characters participating in a battle, and how you arranged them had different effects
- good graphics (by GBC standards anyway)
- randomly generated dungeons (sort like the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon series)
- interesting storyline

I paid less, and I'm still not that happy about it.

Soulblade - Grew into Soul Calibur, but no matter how many people I know that had PS1s no one ever seemed to know this game existed.

Saturn:
Guardian Heroes - AWESOME as shit, no other way to describe it
I'm sure there are dozens more to be listed under Saturn since it seemed like no one in the states had one, but I think it was my favorite system ever so far

I'll have alot more to add to this list after I give it alot more thought instead of doing work today...

I had all three of those games at one time.
Masters was interesting, but a bit to generic.
Soul Blade was great.
I wish I had kept my copy of Guardian Heroes, it was an RPG/Beat-em-Up/Bunch of other things. Strange, but fun, and quite challenging. And really hard to find now.

I guess my game for the list would be Alundra for the PS1. Very fun game, the best way to describe it would be The Legend of Zelda for the PS1.
I need to find that game again.

I think some people here are having trouble distinguishing between "no one else played" and "no one else liked". There's a lot of bandying about of games that got extremely good reviews but didn't sell well, and that doesn't seem to be what the OP was talking about.

The Club:
This game, to me, was awesome. It's such a pure action driven video game that it boggles my mind that it sold horribly. I tried my best to get people interested in this title (spoke about it on the podcast a few times--even gave away a few copies) but people just didnt dig it.

Too Human:
This game has a million things wrong with it. The graphics are mediocre. The voice acting is lame. The melee combat is boring. The death sequence/element is annoying and actually drove me to laughter at points with it's somber-take-me-seriously music. But playing the Marksmen class was so much fun I forgave everything and played through it 3 times leveling my guy to the cap and grinding it out for the best loot.

Eye of Judgement:
It looks like the most gimmicky game ever with it's card-detecting camera and chessboard-like layout, but it's really a fun & strategic game with a solid multiplayer function. Heads up--the music is god aweful but can thankfully be turned off.

*high five*

Yeah I got my sister who is not that big of a gamer hooked on DW6, the split screen is sweet. I go around bell raping with Wei Yan and she just spams Yue Ying's arrows everywhere. Only have three rare ponies so far. My first DW was part Deux

A little known game that I dug was Urban Chaos: Riot Response. The indestructable shield was an interesting gameplay mechanic. Satisfying game to play. I also like off the wall platformers like Voodoo Vince and Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy.

THe main reason it gets progressively worse reviews is, IT"S THE SAME dame game passed off as new each and every single time.

Adventures of Lolo series - Think a lot of people have played, and most people who did like it....but with it being decently old a lot of newer gamers haven't heard of it.

Xexyz - Not sure what it was about this game, but I LOVED it when I was young...I'm willing to bed it got the most play time out of all my NES games.

Goal! - Primitive soccer for the NES, where you could curve a power shot from the half line and score damn near every time....ohh it was fun to win the World Cup.... GO ITALY!!!

I really liked the demo, but for some reason I just never took the leap and picked up the full game. If you're still giving out copies...

I don't think Goal! was underrated or hated by people, it was pretty much the best soccer game of its time (not saying much but still).

Good point, but soccer games have been ultimately underrated or not played by many people, for a long time...back then I'm sure we were among the huge minority of NES owners that have even heard of the game... :)

Saga Frontier. Everyone bitched and moaned that the game was so damn difficult because enemies weren't normalized and you had the same odds of facing 5 level 80 enemies that you did 1 level 20 enemy in an area.

I just found it amazingly difficult and saved after every fight - but that made it fun as hell for me because I'd been coddled by retardedly easy RPG's for so long the prospect of knowing that I could kill a boss and then immediately die to the next monster I fought in the first round because the pack of monsters was 10x harder than the boss I just killed was both amazing and alarmingly exciting at the same time.

Mine wasn't hated, but it's a hidden gem.

Tactics Ogre: Knight of Lodis for Gameboy advance.

Far better than FFTA and just as in depth. Entriguing story as well, that is my 2nd favorite console game of all time next to Secret of Mana.

You change character classes partially by completing individual objectives, basically now known as "achievements" these days in WoW, XBL, TF2/LFd steam games, ect.

I also liked FF:MQ for SNES

CC was a tough sell for a lot of folks, but I had a group of dedicated people. We got together Friday and Saturday nights and I think we finished it in a bit over a month.
