it doesn't travel through port 21, so technically it's not FTP. 😛

So if you set Apache to serve on a port that isn't 80, does that mean it's not a web server?

SecureFX for Windows. Nice GUI SFTP client that actually works like Windows does.

sftp for UNIX. Command line, baby!

I use gFTP when I want to browse an FTP site. If I know the full path to the file I want, however, I use wget.

EDIT: As far as servers go, you will all kneel trembling before the might of ProFTPD. 😀

I use FlashFXP

I tried a bunch of different ftp programs...
FlashFXP works the best. Never have any connection problems even though I am behind a NAT computer...it has an option for that!

SmartFTP for day to day stuff...and i run a script that pulls my log files from my webserver each night that runs in windows.

Client: FLASHFXP (straightforward, but powerful proggy)
Server: BPFTP (straightforward, but powerful proggy)

😉

Basic:

Smart FTP (freeware)

or Flash FXP (neverending shareware)

My Server:

EFTP is a 32bit combined Client/Server application, basically 2 programs in one. EFTP incorporates the 448bit Blowfish Encryption Algorithm and the FTP protocol (RFC 959 implementation) to provide secure file transfers over TCP/IP based networks (The Internet) providing strong encryption when the remote and local hosts both use EFTP.

BTW, FlashFXP v2.0 is out... Improvements here. IMO, not worth any amount of money to upgrade, if you had to pay something. 😉

and sftp is a secure form of FTP so you do use ftp.

riiiiiight....so then it's just s right? no sFTP
FTP = File Transfer Protocol
SFTP = Secure File Transfer Protocol
Your argument is ridiculous and 110% semantics.

Netscape's and Star Downloader. StarDownloader is free but is not the best download program I ever used (this would be GetRight, for now)
