Serious... try the Merc Eclass... that air spring suspension is NICE... then again, if you want a full blown Merc land yacht... S class.

If you don't mind, i'll throw my thoughts into the thread.
If you want just some luxo highway cruiser, cadillac is probably the best option (and for the money). Seats like a sofa and a very soft suspension. Not great power, but then again this isn't a performance car.
Lexus '92 LS400 is nice and the engine is very reliable. The ride is soft. I'd go with a '98 instead of a '92 though, 2mpg better on the highway, lots more power, better support in the seats, more amenities, several problems fixed (PS pump, better dash). very very quiet. holds value pretty good. Not sure if the '98 came w/ the air suspension.
BMW 740. Nice cars but they are geared more towards people who want more of a performance feel to their cars. Good power but stiffer suspension and some electrical problems (depends on the year)
MB S500/S430 (W140 bodystyle). Decent gas mileage and power for a car of this size. A few problems with electronics. Seats are good and the ride is comfortable on the highway. These are LARGE cars. Very pimpin ;)
Q45. the older Q45 have good power but I wouldn't consider them too reliable.
Lincoln. sorry, don't know much about these.

If it was up to me, I'd pick a '98 LS400. ... I might be biased (check sig, hehe) but they aren't going for too much nowadays and have a lot of pros.

Are you sure that a LeCar isn't more up your alley, Moonie? :p

These are all nice cruisers...

Buick Lesabre

Buick Park Avenue

Buick Regal

If you shop around, you can find very clean 2000 and 2001 models with low or average miles. Like this 2001 LeSabre for $17,995. Probably negotiate another $1000 - $1500 off, or if you're concerned about "used" vehicles, negotiate an extended warranty while its still within the original warranty.

Here's a nice Buick Regal which rides a little less like a land yacht and has a little better handling, but still a great highway commuter.

Unless you are one of those people who really don't have the time, you have to get out and look at a lot of vehicles in your area. That is the only way you can get a 'feel' for the 'typical' condition, mileage, and price of cars selling in your area, which you must know if you want to get a good price.

If you look enough, you can find a vehicle in better than typical condition selling for the same if not less than other vehicles which aren't nearly as clean. Just depends how much time and effort you want or have to spend.

Good luck!

I had an RL for a while and I have to say that it was a really nice car ... the new one finally has an in-dash CD changer and nav... you should check it out ... it's very comfy too....

As for the TL .. the interior quality (the plastics) is excellent .... better than a lincoln that's for sure ...

If u are looking for comfort, reliability, and safety go for a Mercedes or BMW.

The japanes cars own in the económy section for up to 3 years old, but after that there are almost exclusively german cars in the list (list from our TÜV - agency that u have to bring your car in for technical/exhaust gas checkups every 2 years - if u dont pass your either in for usually expensive repairs/maintanance or otherwise u are a case for the car cemetary - u are not allowed to operate the vehicle without the TÜF badge)

Well I already got a Regal which is the car I drive to Sacramento now. I seen a 95 La Sabre and I might offer somewhere in the high 3 thousands for it. To sink 17 thou into a used Buick kind of hurts though. I keep thinking I could find a fairly decent 740i or il for that. I still have to drive it to see though. The Park Ave is high on my list for an older cheeper possibility. I don't see too many lincoln town cars for sale locally.

Whaa?? A 1996 740i with 90,000+ miles off warranty, yes. If you believe $17,000 is more wisely spent on a 6 - 7 year old off-warranty 90,000+ mile BMW i740 than a 2-3 year old Buick Lesabre with fewer than 25,000 miles and a warranty, then I can't help you. Nobody can.

Well I just looked at a 98 300es lexus, 45 thou miles beautiful condition, not even a scratch, asking 25000. Also went and sat in a Z350. That was a mistake. I'm not sure if I get a pain down my leg. It does 153 with the governor. I could probably shave some soconds off the trip in that. May go back and drive it if I can't regain control. Looked at used Benzes but all over 30 thou. Don't think I want to spend more than that.

tcsenter, don't forget that us liberals have taken vows of poverty and have only false pride to sustain us. A used older 70 thousand dollar car impresses people a lot more than a newer buick. People think you bought it new. Use your head, man.

I went into Frys with my dark glasses on the other day and somebody said I look like one of the Blues Brothers. The guy on the left reminds me of my Dad.

Yes, BOOne. Frequently when I'm driving. :D

ffm, edmunds has me freaked out about the possible repair costs to electronics and gagetry in the saville.

I should have never sat in the 350Z. That was a big mistake. Don't know if a wheelchair will fold up small enough to fit under the stabalizer in the trunk.

I asked um if they have a stock ski rack as accessory for the car, but nada. That seemed kind of stupid since it's not exactly roomy. I should never have looked at that car.
