its true that fish is for the most part good for you but they recommend that women of child bearing age and younger children under 12 not eat a lot (6 ounces total) of it because its high in mercury.

Yes, stay away from swordfish, tuna, shark, other large salt water fishes if you are pregnant. If you are not, try not to have intake more than twice a week.

Yeah, well that's a big reason I buy capsules and not fish. I used to go down to the shore and bring home clams I dug up myself. I wouldn't do it today because the bay is polluted. They try to discourage people from eating fish caught in the bay. Even ocean fish can have high mercury, and I presume other pollutants. They say to restrict your consumption of canned tuna because of mercury. Fact is, I get a sick feeling in my stomach after eating tuna these days. I started getting that before I heard about the mercury. Don't know if it's related.

So, before I start buying fish again I figure I have to do my homework and find out if it's apt to be polluted.

One of my very favorites is Chilian sea bass. It's incredibly smooth and buttery. It's actually not a bass, and it was called Patagonian tooth fish before the marketing types gave it a name they could sell. Unfortunately, they were right, and it has since been over-fished damned near to extinction.

Now, many restaurants and fish dealers have stopped selling it to give it a chance to recover, which I support, and it's very expensive, if you can find it, at all.
