i go deep-sea fishing fairly often, and i never have to buy fish. my freezer is full of all the fish i've been catching, particularly albacore tuna, yellowtail (hamachi), and calico bass. i've also caught halibut, red snapper, lingcod, barracuda, sculpin, and various forms of sea bass before. they all taste pretty good, minus the barracuda. but i hear barracuda is good for fish tacos.

my favorite would have to be yellowtail (hamachi). it takes a lot out of you to wrestle one in, but it definitely makes the best sashimi. grilled/bbq yellowtail is excellent as well, sprinkled with some lemon salt and cajun spices, with a touch of butter.

about a month ago, i went on a trip and caught couple of albacore tunas, which i'm still eating. when i get home, i'll post a picture or something.

I used to fish commercial up in alaska, japan and russia. Cod has to be the most discusting fish there is. :) The first time i saw tape worms in one i was like i'm never eating cod again lol.

For those who say salmon, there are many types of salmon, with some being good, and some being ass. Chum = ass. That being said,

the best type of fish is wild pacific sockeye salmon, hands down, guaranteed or double your money back, no doubt about it :D
