I used to get like 30 calls a day saying someone was trying to get into my account on Venmo, usually like 7-8 in a row. I was also getting a lot of emails about it, I have an account but I never used it or added any cards or anything so I just ignored it. Still not sure if it was spam or people actually trying to get in but it made me want to use it even less.

Sucks when that crap happens since you can practice the best security in the world but you're still at the mercy of other organization's security too. I'm on a bunch of haveibeenpwned lists myself and not much I could have done to avoid it.

Woke up this morning, and put my Star Trek playlist on my computer to make coffee and start the morning,

First tune was DS9(3am at Quarks). That's where the select bar was, and it's one of the best tunes ever, so I double clicked it.

I'm in the process of making coffee, and Where My Heart Will Take Me comes on. The Full Fucking Version. My hands are full, and I can't do anything about it.

I don't know what I did to anger the gods, but I never want to do that again.

Nothing is safe in the cloud, unfortunately. Best practices are:

1. Keep data & records backups
2. Use non-SMS 2FA
3. Do monthly password rotations via calendar reminders & use unique passwords for every site

Unfortunately, this is a HUGE hassle, so nobody actually does it lol

I have been getting a ton of spam lately. I get voicemails on the daily from "Google" calling about a password change from my Galaxy S21 (don't own one) and I need to press 1 if it wasn't me. I'm also getting spam emails coming through to my inbox about PayPal password, plus all these texts and emails about Venmo PW reset. There must have been some major leak recently that I'm not yet aware of.

Made my world famous vegetable bowl, and the baby carrots are ginormous. I like them when they're petite. I don't know why the size is variable. They should be virtually identical due to the magic of modern mechanization. Also the jalapeño could be hotter.

A letter to the editor in support of a position I also support on a local issue was so poorly written that it probably did more damage than good. The writer opened with perfectly incorrect math, misstating the facts by a factor of ten. The writer then went on to list out a bizarre collection of national issues and use them to rationalize his position on the local issue when they really had nothing to do with it. Oh well, it the great scheme of things, the issue isn't all that important.

There's SO many stupid people out there. I've always hated call-in shows, where people ask their dumbass questions, and give their dumbass opinions. Even on NPR where you expect the bar to be higher than average, some absolute morons get through the call screening process. It's no wonder the world's so fucked. It's amazing we've gotten as far as we have.

Have a retina dr. appt in a few hours. I'm getting some injections in both my eyes this afternoon. This is a first for me so I'm not too sure how I'm going to react. My dr. said it'll be pretty quick and that I won't need anyone to drive me home. But I live about 30 mins from the dr. office so I'm a little concerned but don't have anyone to drive me back if I can't lol.

I'm thinking about getting my 1st motorcycle, nothing fancy or big. I'm absolutely Befuddled that a $4,999 bike ends up being a little over $6600 OTD. The amount of shit that gets added on to the price is outrageous. :|

Ouch that sucks. My company has been doing mass layoffs pretty much since the day I started. Every couple years they will do a big round of layoffs. Used to worry me but I've almost grown numb to it, but I feel it's one of those things where it will hit one day when I least expect it. I just try not to worry about it, as not much I can do. They tend to be fair with severance though, so at least I wouldn't loose my house, I would have some time to find other work and still have money to pay bills and taxes etc. Would still suck to start somewhere else from scratch though.

I was on the cusp of buying a truck tomorrow, but they called and told me that the frame was rusty and they're having to reinforce it. I'm glad they told me, but my desire to buy it is a lot lower now.

Who the hell makes the cooking instructions for tater tots? "air fry 10-12 minutes at 350f" After 12 they were still super mushy, I've never met a person who likes mushy tots. I left them in 5 minutes longer and they still were kinda soft. I made another batch today, 21 minutes at 360 and they still could have used about 1 more minute.

I'd go to 400°, and maybe even try 425°. I haven't made them in awhile, and don't remember what temp I use, but I go higher than the directions say.

edit:
I use aldi tots, whoever makes those.

I air fry mine in an oven at 425 for 22-24 minutes. In an air fryer basket too.

My right foot's been bugging the shit out of me. It has patches of itchiness, swelling and soreness. I've had it before, and I finally looked it up. It's this bullshit...

It's driving me nuts. It alternates between itching, and being sore to the point it's hard to walk. Wearing boots helps til it doesn't, and I have to strip them off. Still better than summer.
