I keep checking FB forgetting that I'm banned. I guess it will take me a couple days to get over this then I'll just accept my fate and move on. I'm going to go and make my own Facebook, with blackjack, and hookers.

Seriously though it would be a fun project from a coding perspective, the issue is dealing with all the legal bullshit like government mandates/requirements that are imposed on social media platforms all around the world. Not to mention trying to actually get users.
Many people survive without it.

Just got a random text from a number, not even someone in my contacts, but they know my name so it's someone I must know, asking for tech support. I had a nice day ahead of me with plans, it's incredible how 1 simple text can ruin your day. I tried so hard to get out of doing tech support for people but once in a while I still get hit with it.

I'm ignoring it for now so I can just sit down and have my coffee but it's not like I can pretend they got the wrong number, it's probably my parents that gave them my number or something.

You text me? All text from numbers not in my contact list get deleted automatically.

It's not that easy, they'll just ask when is the next time you're available and want to schedule a day/time. Either way, a day gets taken up by it.

That said I ended up replying, turns out it's one of my aunts that I didn't have in contacts, said I'm heading back to work so won't be able to for a while, didn't specify a date. Hopefully I can fluff this off. It sounds like it's dialup related as she mentioned a username and password for connecting to internet.

I quit social media in 2020. I didn't think it was fair that the Governor of Illinois was shutting down SBO like me but allowed the big box stores to remain open and sell the exact same products as I was.

I used social media as a grass roots approach to get people to reach out to local and state representatives to also shut down the big box stores because fair is fair right? I also did local newspaper and tv station interviews expressing my concern about how it was unfair.

Before I knew it I had random people posting pictures of Hitler and Mussolini on my social media accounts and calling me all sorts of nasty things including threats to me, my business, and my family.

That is when I said fuck you to social media and I will never go back. You assholes on here are about as close to social media as I get now.:):D

Plugging my phone up to my computer started to display Turbopower Connected on the display. I thought "WTF is that?!" It never said that before. The phone seems to be charging faster than it used to, but I'm still doing it from a USB port on my computer to intentionally limit the charge rate, so I'm not sure what's going on. I don't want turbo anything when I charge. I want Glacialpower Connected. The slower the better.

Anyway, I had to transfer something from my phone, and apparently my cable doesn't transfer anymore. Not sure what happened, but all this stuff seemed to have happened at the same time. I have a backup cable, so it isn't a huge deal, but it's annoying.

Side note... I looked up WTF Turbopower was, and ran into this video. It started out difficult, and went to WTF land. What language is that? I uderstood the beginning, but the rest is Hindi? Sounds like German with a heavy Indian accent. Occasionally a word would popup I could understand. It's probably like my cats listening to me talk. A bunch of babbling, then their name or "food" comes through clear :^D

edit:
New cable also seems to be charging fast. I wonder if a new linux kernel has caused that? I might have to dig into the system, and see if there's a way to limit power to the ports. Ideal situation would be limiting power to a single port, but I don't think it can be that fine grained.

C cable?

Turn it over. Seriously. Not sure why it sometimes, but not always makes a difference, but I've seen it quite often. I know it isn't supposed to, but it has in my experience.

I tried that, and got the same result. It's a "nice" but generic Chinese cable from amazon. It lives plugged into my computer, and it leads a protected life. I plug my phone in, and unplug it. It doesn't get dragged around or anything. I guess a wire broke :shrugs:

I do tech support for a small business. Today one of his employees messaged me. I wasn't in the mood to help, so I ignored it for a few hours. When I finally opened it, she (in the Philippines) told me she lost her home in the earthquake and hated asking but didn't know what to do. She asked if I could help in any way. Even if all I could do was pray she would greatly appreciate it. I don't follow the news much, so I had no idea an earthquake had happened.

Before reading her message, I was bummed out that the movie theater was out of the 50/50 caramel/cheddar popcorn and I'd have to get something else tonight when I go watch Nightmare on Elm Street. After I read her message, I felt like an asshole. I couldn't imagine losing my house and having to sleep on the streets, because the houses around her didn't collapse are unsafe. She said there has been 849 after shocks and they were still happening. That's some scary shit. :|

It made me realize how blessed I am that it's been years, if not a decade since I've had anything bigger than a 1stworldproblem.

I lost a 12pack of seltzer water somewhere. I bought two of them a couple months ago when I went to lidl, cause they had orange, and aldi never has orange anymore. I'm 90% sure I didn't drink both of them, but damned if I can remember where I put it. Probably somewhere with a bunch of shit on top so I can't see it. I guess it'll turn up eventually :^/

There are ways around those issues. Let's talk for say, 50% shares in your venture? :p

Amazing that a blue state governor would do that. Guess it's true about dems and corruption. Things like this is probably what pissed people into voting for the repugs out of sheer spite.

Check your phone settings. The USB ports will just happily give what is asked of them. It's the phone detecting that more power is available and then turning TurboPower on.

Why can't you use both? Or keep a spare. Come on. Don't initiate return. Please don't. Let them have some food on the table tonight.

Putting my hat in the ring for a position I'm going to apply for. Have to write a "compelling" cover letter and get 5 letters of recommendations. Ughhh...

Bought a case of elephant mango about a week ago, decide to cut them today. All were rotten though the skin looks fine.

Trying to organize my EU trip. Wife saw a deal from Travelzoo that was operated by a third party. A nine days trip between London, Paris and Rome. Hotels (breakfast included), and airfares between countries included for $1309 per person if flying on April 5th..

Sounds too good?
