Family member really needed an android phone in a pinch yesterday, so I factory reset and let them have my oneplus 9. Ordered a oneplus 10T from amazon for overnight delivery. Delivery window was 4-8am. Was delivered at 4:15am lolwhoa.

Anyways, I had forgotten how it's kind of a PITA setting up a new phone. Install all the apps, gotta install android updates, get authenticator apps set back up, blah blah blah. Oh well
It's been years since I've set up an Android phone, but one thing that always stuck out to me was how slooooow it was when it would connect to account and automatically download all the apps you have. Maybe this has changed on newer Android versions. I had dozens of Android phones and waiting for the apps to install was always painful.

May have improved with the flagship phones but normal phones I don't think will be much improved. Their storage speed is probably on par with an average USB 3.0 flash drive, not an actual SSD.

I suppose one thing that could help is if the app unpacking and installation happened in phone RAM and then it was converted to kind of a blob and copied as-is to some folder and the only extra files that would need to be written are the config files or SQLite DB files and other user data files. Knowing humans, they probably just take the easy way out and do everything on the slow storage.

Another FWP that I actually knew about yesterday, but the gravity of the situation kinda just hit me now.

So that rattling noise in my truck is the box being loose and falling apart at the mounts. Basically my mechanic said it's beyond economic repair. Was really hoping to be able to make this truck last at least until the mortgage is paid off, then I could afford to buy new. Vehicles are so crazy expensive now, and even the used market is not that great.

I'm looking at used vehicles and really not much in my area so may need to buy sight unseen from out of town. I'm thinking I will either get a SUV and a trailer or get a mini van. Mini vans are super cheap compared to everything else, there's a few 10 year old ones for like 5-6k available about 3 hours from here and they have the stow and go seats so can fit 4x8 sheets of material. The SUV may be better suited though as it has higher ground clearance and AWD which is practically a must here in winter.

Or.... I just bite the bullet and buy a brand new F150 with the 8' box, and get it undercoated from day 1 and do everything right to ensure it doesn't rust, so that I can actually keep it for a very long time. If I make the minimum payments it comes up to around $400 biweekly. If I stop putting money into savings, and do a few other adjustments to finances I should be able to squeeze that in. Once the mortgage is paid off I can then increase the payments. I would want to ensure that it's an option to do that.

So yeah that's kinda the big delima I need to start thinking about sooner rather than later. I might just go see dealerships and see what sort of deals exists, I'm sure what I see online is not the whole story, maybe I can get a better deal than what it shows on the site.
Look at it yourself. It might be good enough, or you might be able to hack a fix. You don't need a box at all. Turn it into a flatbed. That's the benefit of cab on frame design. Nothing above the frame is essential to the operation. You can make any kind of vehicle you want.

I was thinking that, but I don't really have a proper shop or equipment such as a lift to work to do stuff like that and that's more work than I want to get into now, already have lot of stuff I want to get done this summer. I will still keep this truck for a future project for once I do build a shop though, but I think I'll cut my losses for now. The box being loose is only one of the issues, the other is a battery drain, which that alone has been super annoying to deal with as I constantly have to plug it in, or disconnect the battery if it sits for more than a few hours.

Going to keep looking at used, I might just buy something in the same year range that is in better shape just to get me by for next few years then buy new. Or maybe just bite the bullet and buy new right away.

Dude…Ford (at least in the US is offering 0% or 1.9% interest on new trucks…just go buy a brand new truck.

Still an insane amount of money in grand scheme of things. More than what I paid for my 40 acre property and almost half of what I paid for the house which I'm still paying down now. . I'm still kinda thinking of that route as I can get a proper long box truck though, they are near impossible to find used. Ford also has aluminium body so it will last a very long time.

Waiting for a call from someone that has a GMC truck for under 10k for sale so will go see that one and I might buy it to get me by for next few years. Once the house is paid off then I'll be in a better position to buy new.

Also toying with getting a mini van as there are some cheap ones for sale out of town and they have more cargo space than a short box truck, but the ground clearance and tires won't be as great for in the bush. Can fit full sheets of drywall or plywood in one of those.

If you lay the tailgate down, you can haul full 4x8 sheets of plywood or drywall. (just be sure to protect it from the weather)

Yeah that's what I'll have to do, and strap it down. With 8 foot box I can even longer with tailgate down though. I've done 16' before. Suppose it might be possible to do 12' on short box but that's probably pushing it. The longest lumber I can haul essentially dictates the longest span I can do when building, without doing site built TJI or open web trusses, which I suppose is an option. This year I want to build a shed and was thinking 12x12 as I can get 12' 2x6 for super cheap.

That guy never called back though so going to keep shopping. Dealing with marketplace is a pain. I may very well walk into the Ford dealership at some point and see what they can do. If I can keep the total payment under $400 biweekly I can make it work, it will be tight AF but I can make it work. I basically cut all money going to savings, stocks, etc for now. I'm also saving money with the wood stove.

There's also a lot of options on Auto Trader but most are in Sudbury so that's a 3 hour drive. May still do that though. Even if I go with a small SUV I can then get a 4x8 trailer. Should have room for that in my driveway. I could probably get by for that until both the mortgage and credit line is paid. For my cabin build I suppose I can just pay for delivery, if I get a couple grand worth of lumber at once it hurts a bit less to pay that fee, and saves me from having to move the lumber twice.

Went out to shorten grass today, and saw I lost a decent sized locust branch in the storm we had, and it was blocking the driveway. My finger's still jacked, but I was able to use my battery tophandle saw to smallify it a bit, and get it out of the way. Still needs a bunch of work, and I have to climb up to get rid of a hanging piece, but that'll have to wait.

Also, I had to shorten grass. Such a load of bullshit. Shortening grass is the dumbest shit in the world :^S

I have an uncle who has been relegated to a rehab hospital due to diabetes complications. He's an architect by trade and has been doing consulting work just to stay afloat.

He dropped his Samsung Galaxy A14 one too many times and killed the screen. Took it to a repair place and they said it's too damaged for a simple screen replacement.

So in a pinch, I gave him my Oneplus 9 so he can keep working. I tried to restore his contacts from the sim card. No contacts found. Whaaaat?

Come to find out he had his list of business contacts saved in a GD fckn note on his phone instead of saving them as contacts. Of course I can't access the phone via usb hooked up to my PC or even hooked up to a tv with my usb C to HDMI adapter since the phone is locked.

Driving west from I5 towards Coos Bay, we ran into a road block. There was a small wildfire and they had the highway closed for helicopter operations. Fortunately, my GPS offered a chance of a workaround...that took us to the actual fire on the side of the closure I needed...and I talked a state trooper into letting us go on. WOOT!

Can you type a pin using an external keyboard? I never thought to try. Maybe you could get his pin, restart the phone, unlock with a keyboard, then adb the stuff you need off of it.

Why didn't I think of that damnit. I got a Oneplus 10T as a replacement this week and it came with a USB C to USB A adapter. I'm gonna give that a try, then hook it up to my TV again. Thanks!

Got up today and was going through my normal routine. I opened a new bag of apples and the first one I grabbed was rotten. A few seconds later my toast popped up and it was burnt and smoking. I looked towards the window and saw a spider. I went over to smash it but it was a jumping spider so I let it live. While eating breakfast one of my frozen blueberries tasted like death. I should have stayed in bed lol.

I have experience with the Galaxy A53 and A54, not A14. But they're straightforward. I think Samsung designs their screens to break completely at the slightest crack, so you need to replace the whole display assembly, not just the digitizer. But the phone should still work by transplanting the motherboard to a new body, which includes the screen.

I think if the internal boards are not damaged, the phone is still salvagable.

I've dropped about 2 A53s and one A54.

After the repair, the other thing is to get a strong adhesive for the battery so it doesn't wear out the ribbon that connects power and data.

Forgot to plug in my truck yesterday so now it won't start. Was all dressed ready to go to church, not really in clothes to be messing around with that. Plugged it in and got dressed in normal clothes for now just going to skip the first service, usually charges in less than an hour. Getting a new truck this afternoon if all goes well. It will be so nice not dealing with that issue anymore.
