There's a literal Canada post strike going on for weeks now. Squirrel wouldn't know, all he reads it's melt your mind misinformation and thinks that is news.

Be fair, he mentions that strike in his comment.

I'm just saying that that's not the issue here, as there is no such strike in UK, but that I've noticed the mail becomes hopelessly unreliable at this time of year, pretty much every year, and my theory is that it's because this is the time when they take on lots of untrained temporary staff to cope with the Christmas rush, and those temporary workers seem to be prone to 'lose' stuff.

Yet another website changed something and it no longer displays properly.

Facebook is the worst for that. I think they are purposely crippling the site to force people to use the app. . If it was not where all my family and friends post I would quit. 99% of the stuff on the timeline is not even what people post anyway.

I feel I could do better if I made a similar site, but the hard part is actually getting people to use it. That, and all the legal crap. I'm sure they have patents and what not, then there's all sorts of government regulations to follow too. The technical side would not be all that hard though.

So one of the packages arrived today, and it's nowhere to be found. Filed a claim. What bad luck I'm having with these purchases. Ironicly it was security cameras. I don't think it was stolen though, based on the time it says it was delivered it would have arrived while I was snowblowing the driveway or shortly after so I would have been home.

Edit:
Well good news, it got delivered to wrong house and the owner dropped it off at my house. I had a feeling that might be what happened. Lot of deliveries get handled by Intelcom now and they are known for doing that. They need to give their employees a training refresher on how to read house numbers and street names. :p

Waiting for it to warm up before I plug it in since I'm getting frost bite on my fingers just touching it lol.

Scheduled service for my truck today at 1145am. Dealer is about 30 miles away. Got a call from the dealer, they said they had a few cancellations, and wanted to offer mobile service and would come out to me instead. *IF* I worked within 10 miles of them. Big nope, have to drive it in still...

Placed Amazon order, had four items in the cart. Amazon only processed three items and left the fourth in the cart. Had to place second order for the fourth item.

There is a feed that is just friends and family, but you have to dig a little to find it.

I guess getting one of my upper front teeth pulled and the roots cut out counts as a first world problem? My tongue keeps going for the retained at the roof of my mouth that holds the temporary tooth in place, it's really annoying.

I'd imagine root canals don't exist in 3rd world countries, not at least anywhere close to what they are here. So yes, that's a very 1st world problem.

I saw a movie theater style popcorn machine on Amazon and couldn't resist, but I didn't consider the size. It won't fit on my counters because they all have cabinets. So now I have to spend $90 on the cart with wheels for it. Or put it on the kitchen table and have an extension cord running across the floor like some kind of trailer trash.

On the plus side, it can pop 8oz of kernels. On the minus side, I'm pretty sure eating that much popcorn covered in "movie butter like topping" and a bunch of Flavavol has to be terrible for you. I could make less, but I did more research AFTER I ordered. If you only make a small batch the popcorn will come out chewier due to the amount of steam.

Also I just Googled and learned that 8oz of popcorn has 80g of fiber, so if I do somehow manage to eat an entire batch I'll probably be in the bathroom the entire next day. What's more American/1st world than a huge ass machine that does nothing but make popcorn?

It will be an implant, so really first world-ish.

Hydro went out while I was in the shower. Pitch black everywhere. Like, not even any ambient light whatsoever from anything as it's so dark out at this time of year. No stars or moon or anything just black. Couldn't see hand in front of my face. Manage to find a flashlight so I can finish up and leave the house for work. Looks like it's the whole city, except for the traffic lights on the highway but I almost wonder if they put battery backup in those during the recent reconstruction project. Only source of light was other cars.

Get to work and try to VPN in to my home network so I can monitor my battery voltage and looks like my whole network already dropped hard. Not good. Been meaning to upgrade my batteries and just have not gotten around to it yet. Hopefully I don't have too much corruption and that I can get stuff back up. The NAS has not been rebooted since around 2019. I'm stuck at work with no way to be able to do anything so that's going to bother me all day.

Power just came back for a bit now back out again. We have generator but buildings around us don't.

Guessing the 500kv substation has some protection tripping.

Turns out my server stuff didn't drop at all! Well that's a relief.

Reason I couldn't connect to the VPN is because the inverter was down and my internet is plugged directly through it. I forgot about that recent change. It's temporary, once my upgrades are done the inverter will last 12+ hours. But the rack is still on the old UPS which is then plugged in the inverter.

All the parts for my new PC have been delivered aside from my case, which is supposed to be here by 10pm today. Was really hoping to build it this afternoon, busy tonight and tomorrow so I'll have to wait until Sunday to build it if it comes that late.

I ordered some PA Dutch hex signs from a local (PA) website. I used to live near PA Dutch people, at a local farmer's market and wanted to give my business to local merchants, because there are China copies readily available on Amazon. But my order was not shipped for almost three weeks, and after two emails and a phone call no one knew about my order so I had to contact PayPay, who handled the transaction.

I killed my toilet spider yesterday. I have a toilet I don't use much, and one of those wispy legged house spiders built a web over the bowl. I like to flush the toilet every so often whether I use it or not to keep things working, and those dumb ass spiders always seem to rush into danger. All it had to do was stay put, and it would've been fine, but it ran towards the water and drowned. I kind of liked seeing it there, and wanted to know how long it would live :^(

I wish you luck tonight. That baby spider had lots of relatives and they are coming for you.

The PCs I ordered about a month ago for my Proxmox migration are still stuck in the mail somewhere. The tracking is basically saying "hell if I know what's going on" but in customer service lingo. Doesn't even show where it is anymore lol. I think it got lost.

These came from southern Ontario. The package from Wuhan might actually make it here first.

The CP strike doesn't help but these are UPS packages so at this point it really should have arrived by now.

Yay so my Proxmox nodes finally showed up! I hit refresh on the tracking at work and it said delivered. Texted my sister to go get it as I didn't want it to sit all day on my porch and she was able to do that. I was stuck at work and it's the weekend so not like I can leave to go put it in the house as I'm the only one working. It required a signature but they just left it anyway. It's a curse and a blessing, since if they had required a signature I'd be stuck trying to get to the courier's depot on Monday and I'll be on nights for the next 6 days so it would be hard to try to get there before they close. So either way, glad I got them now.

Popped in the 4 port network cards and installing Proxmox. I'm done day shifts, starting nights tomorrow which means I can sleep in tomorrow so may as well do both machines tonight and set them up in the server room and be done. Join cluster then move the VMs over to them and call it good. I might leave one of the virtualized nodes intact so I can have Quorum for HA. Need to have an uneven number of devices for HA to work properly.
