The Kidd Mine is 55°C at the bottom. ~35% of the operating cost of the mine is spent on ventilation. Adiabatic heating raises the temperature of surface air by 30°C just by moving it to the bottom of the mine so A/C is needed. This is a major reason robotics are coming to mining; the costs and complications of simply keeping miners alive at depth are so high.

They can totally heat the town with heat exchange. Just like how Toronto Hydro is using lake water for cooling buildings.

World's oldest water was also found there. Kind of crazy that there is water at such depths.

The other day I almost slipped and fell on some wet moss on a rock, and funny enough one of my city's founding fathers discovered gold that way. Slipped on moss, it got undone, and revealed a huge vein. I actually have quartz exposed on my land so probably gold too... but that's not necessarily a good thing since I don't have mineral rights. :p It's rare to get mineral rights here since the big mines tend to own it all.

Got my kitten Noodles fixed yesterday. They told me to watch him and if he licked his former nuts to distract him. If he kept going back to those ghost nuts, to get a cone of shame for him.

So I figured since every animal I've had needed a cone of shame, better to have it just in case. So I spent $20 on a Kong cone for him, cutest little thing ever.

It's been 24 hrs. I haven't seen my man lick is phantom nuts once. My boy is tough!

So now I gotta see if they'll take back the cone that my manly manly kitten doesn't need.

I have a heater under my desk and since the sun is out (it's solar powered) I decided to crank it up and went to do some quick groceries and when I got back home it was too hot in my office.

Had a circuit trouble and they insisted on having someone go on it tonight. 2 techs to troubleshoot remotely, another tech to eventually go on site, and 3 hours of running around later, turns out the client unplugged the demark equipment. /facepalm

I hope they get billed for this.

There was this poster that admitted going to McGarbage Dump. Gave me a good chuckle thinking that a supposed human would ever do that.

I bought two new soundbars to replace my old Amazon Basics ones. Got two of the same Sony 2.1 systems. The subs are wireless (Bluetooth) and they're crosstalking with the bars. Nothing in the documentation on how to fix it. Posted in the Audio forum so we'll see if that helps.

Had to be a grumpy old man and contact the local Clerk-Recorder on an election sign complaint. There's an intersection near my house that's pretty dangerous, lots of major accidents every year from people blowing through red lights. Lots of signs go up at the southwest corner of the intersection because it's a vacant lot. Someone just had their sign go up a couple of days ago, way late to the political sign game, and felt like the only place to put their sign was right at the northernmost edge of the lot, perpendicular to the oncoming traffic. It completely blocks the view of oncoming (eastbound) traffic if you're northbound. Makes a right turn on red essentially impossible.

I'm making some carne asada tacos on Friday and went to the store on Monday to buy ingredients. My usual store didn't have cotija for some reason. Lots of Oaxaca, quesadilla, Fresca, etc. but no cotija. No problem, I still have a few days so I'll check another store. Yesterday I go to a different store after dropping the kids at swim team and this store had no cotija. Lots of Oaxaca, quesadilla, Fresca, etc. but still no cotija. Both stores had shelf space and labels for cotija but the space was full of other cheeses.

Why is this the Great Cotija Shortage of Late 2022?!?

I got an email that the deadline for some training is here. My bonus will be based on my evals and success in meeting my goals. I never had the meeting for the goals...I never received the training..

My back has not been in great shape this last week, but over the last few days has become really bad. It hurts to walk more than a few minutes.

Last night I kept waking up from really painful spasms in my low back (from where I had surgery), and by 5:00 AM I gave up getting more sleep.

You are buying too many plastic models. They are too heavy for your back.

Trying to return something I bought on eBay. Seller only uses USPS. Super inconvenient. Seller sent me a prepaid label. I go online to see if my mail carrier can pick up the package rather than me trying to get to the post office between 9AM and 4:30 PM. USPS website says package pickup is available. I get to the end of the request and I get a message "sorry, this service is currently unavailable. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused."

Amazon had a sale (their sales always catch me by surprise, I just happen to be looking at the site and find the prices have suddenly gone down). Memory cards were hugely reduced.

Bought a couple, but now regret not buying more, as they're now twice the price and I need a couple more.

Why didn't I just get a few more? I knew that was an unusually substantial price reduction. "Past me" is always annoying me like that. Sometimes I hate that guy. The man's a fool, but I can never get to him to give him a slap.

I'm tired & I don't want to go anywhere or do anything. I just want to order a couple of burgers on the food delivery app & then watch TV until I fall asleep.

There is not a single place that will deliver 2 burgers (before tip!) for under $50. I can't mentally cost-justify that insanity lol.

I know the feeling. I sometimes go to order something and it totals up to like $40 and it's hard to justify but when I'm hungry and don't feel like making something or going to pick it up... I sometimes still pull the trigger. Though now when I'm home and not at work, I usually compromise and go pick it up, that saves about $10 by the time you factor delivery and tip, which also means a bit more taxes due to the total being higher, so it all adds up. Delivery in general has gone way up now too, I remember when $2-3 was the norm but those days are over. Looking at like $6 for delivery alone.
