Not today, but during my last ban:
Somehow a ton of water managed to be applied to my last water bill. It stands at 898 dollars, which is about 868 dollars more than my normal bill.
I considered the possibilities: Neighbors stealing from my hose, bad meter, leaking under the foundation.
If the neighbors had been stealing, they did a magnificent job of returning my hose to exact same position many many times in a row.
If theres a bad meter the water company is refusing to acknowledge it. So thats a pointless trail to follow.
If I got water eroding my foundation I am screwed, so I'll probably have to kill myself.
Wow, that's a tricky one. I had a family member suddenly get hit with an electric bill so huge they'd have had to have been running an Aluminum smelting plant - but it turned out that the electric company's meter-reading guy had managed, that one month only, to read the meter for the house next door by mistake.
Surely, if the meter reading is correct according to your own meter, there can only be a leak somewhere after the meter?
Or did you go away for a while and leave a tap running the whole time?
