Not today, but during my last ban:

Somehow a ton of water managed to be applied to my last water bill. It stands at 898 dollars, which is about 868 dollars more than my normal bill.
I considered the possibilities: Neighbors stealing from my hose, bad meter, leaking under the foundation.

If the neighbors had been stealing, they did a magnificent job of returning my hose to exact same position many many times in a row.
If theres a bad meter the water company is refusing to acknowledge it. So thats a pointless trail to follow.
If I got water eroding my foundation I am screwed, so I'll probably have to kill myself.

Wow, that's a tricky one. I had a family member suddenly get hit with an electric bill so huge they'd have had to have been running an Aluminum smelting plant - but it turned out that the electric company's meter-reading guy had managed, that one month only, to read the meter for the house next door by mistake.

Surely, if the meter reading is correct according to your own meter, there can only be a leak somewhere after the meter?

Or did you go away for a while and leave a tap running the whole time?

Long term contract deal ended with Comcast so initiated a return of the cable box (still in the same cellophane wrap I got it in). Dropped it off at UPS and saw the guy scan the serial number bar code. Checked the return status this morning...

Apparently Comcast noted down the wrong serial number when they shipped it to me 2 years ago or something because now I have two devices on my account instead of just the one cable box. They added the one I sent them so they could noted I returned it and now they're going to start charging me $7.50 for a cable box they never gave me. Tried to chat them about it but nope have to call. Tier 1 ISP customer service here I come!

The CEO of the company where I work announced that I was promoted... but gave me a different job title than what my manager did. Also, my job title in the payroll system and the org chart don't match.

Now more than ever, I'm not really sure what I really do here... I know that it's vaguely IT related, but that's about it :)

Fckn power's out again. From what I've seen on Facebook, looks like nearly half the town is dark.

The fuse that feeds my neighborhood has a tendency of blowing often, I think it's like clockwork even for the hydro crews now. They're here within the hour to replace it. Last time it happened I was working from home so ran an extension cord to my shed to keep my computer running. Rebooting my work machine is a PITA so did not want to deal with that and was not sure how long the UPS would last for.

nope.
Every time I leave the house I look around make sure the oven is off and the taps are off.
And I do not recall coming home to a running tap. never ever.

Stupid kid fucked up his headset microphone again. Was looking for a quarter inch to minijack adapter for a xlr microphone. Spent half an hour looking for it. Gave up, open the mic pouch and there it is. I put it in the mic pouch just so I don't have to look for it...

Why do Capcha tests presume an ability to speak American? I could figure out "crosswalk" but "select every picture that includes a truck", just makes me realise I don't know what the precise definition of "truck" is. HGV? LGV? 4x4? What counts as a "truck"?

Nearly missed my Epic free-game-that-I'll-never-get-round-to-playing-or-even-installing due to captcha confusion.

Locked myself out of the building I work in. I was the only one there, and I left my keys inside. Had to go home 2 hours early.

Lol that's my worse fear especially during night shift if I decide to go outside or something. We have a lockbox with a spare fob in it outside but hell if I will remember the code for it when I actually need it. I put it in my phone but I may not have it on me if I went out for 2 seconds with intention of coming back in.

Happened to one of my coworkers once actually but the cleaner was still around so eventually found him sitting in the stairwell contemplating what just happened lol.

Had tickets to a special curated MOTH story hour outdoors at Lincoln Center in Manhattan. Got cancelled due to inclement weather. It was a good call, it didn't end up raining that much but it came down really hard during the first hour of the event scheduled time. Won't be rescheduled, just refunded. Boo.

Also, there are no MOTHS being run right now at the bookstore in downtown Manhattan, a standard venue for them, just at the Bell House in Brooklyn. Which is just a bit more of a PITA to get to.

Spent literally all day dealing with that abomination of a company making what should have been a few simple service-changes.

FINALLY on the 5th LONG phone call got a really nice SENIOR-employee who knew what she was doing, this after multiple hours/phone-calls AND a visit to the dang Xfinity store to drop off a cable box. Good lord.

Supposedly an independent company will be bringing fiber to my neighborhood in 2022 and I CAN'T WAIT to kick Comcast to the curb.

We do actually have competition in this area from Wow. We were about to switch when the pandemic hit and I realized the Comcast in our area had been rock solid service wise for years. So I've stuck with them and haven't had any issues. I have however seen Wow customers complaining about service outages. Sigh

when I built my Ryzen 3700X I reused an old case. So I took out the 3.5" drive cages and put them somewhere, thinking I would not need them. FF to today I need to mount a SATA SSD and I cannot find the drive cages... So, I use a adapter to convert the ssd to 3.5" size, then another one to 5.25", then install quick release rails on that. But the 3.5" to 5.25" adapter prevents me from using the cable from the psu to connect power because it is a right angle plug and well, that was not going to work. So I had to find a sata power extender cable that is straight.

Yes, I had all those adapters, cables and screws but it was a pain. I just know I'll run into the drive cage in a few days.

A very long time ago I had to visit my workplace out-of-hours, and then, with horror, realised, after letting myself in (I had the keys), that I'd forgotten the numeric code to deactivate the burglar alarm. In a panic I tried entering "12345", only to find it worked, and turned the alarm off before it triggered, just as the actual code would have done.
