I ordered 4 pizzas from Pizzeria Uno for $100. They claim on their website that it is the same pizza as the Ohio & Wabash location. I was nervous because it ships from a commercial kitchen in KC.

Well my nervousness was right, it was the recipes they use at the chains and that you can get frozen at some grocery stores. It was not the real Chicago recipe. It was still good, but not at all the real thing and not worth $25 per 10" pizza. At least the dry ice was fun to play with.

Both of my kids "forgot" to do their FAFSA certifications (due by January 1st) until about 20 minutes ago, and now they are both scrambling to do them on their computers. I'm having to go through last years tax forms, and getting all the various financial information for them. In between my neck and back being locked up from fixing one of their PCs today, and trying to calm our youngest dog because of people shooting off fireworks in the neighborhood.

What a fitting way to end to 2020.
Shit. I thought it was March or something.

I really wish it was easy to block just 1/2 the ads on AT. They need income, and I need to not be driven insane by dozens of ads.
All Future owned websites are unfortunately like that. I don't mind a few ads, but yeah. Luckily most of the ads aren't malicious/redirects like they were while the site was under Purch, which made the site unviewable while on mobile devices.

At least Future hasn't forced the autoplay videos on every page like they have over at Tom's. It's annoying to read a review, and have to disable/stop the same video from playing on every single page. I guess at least they haven't moved to allowing the writers to insert politics into the articles like they have over at PC Gamer..........for now at least.

Good point on the auto play videos. If out waiting for my wife in the car and go browse some of the tech sites - I have to stop because of these stupid things eating up my data.

New Year and new lower rates from the banks/credit unions for my reward checking accounts. Used to have most of them in 4% to 5% or more. Now only two accounts are in the 4% range, the rest are in 2% range or lower. Don't let me start with CD rate and savings.

Newegg, why oh why can't you ship things in boxes? I almost never order smaller single items from them anymore (mostly SSDs, CPU, RAM, etc.) because they ship it in a padded envelope. I've had SSDs (both 2.5" and NVMe) drives with the boxes just mangled, and one had to be sent back.

So Amazon was OOS of the RAM I wanted, so I went with Newegg thinking "If I order two small items, they surely will put it in a small box". Nope.

Thankfully the SSD box is only a little crushed this time (and the RAM didn't become loose from it's packaging as it's not sealed). I think outside of larger items they have to ship in a box, I think I am pretty well done with Newegg. It's been like 4-5 years since they began doing this, so next time I will just wait until a retailer like Amazon, Best Buy, BH Photo, etc. have the item in stock.

Ordered a turntable and some vinyl to listen to, I accidentally had added an extra cartridge to the order. Which I'll be sending back, well the cartridge came today, but of course, the turntable doesn't come until tomorrow. It was a single order, and both packages were at the Texas hub and left at the same time, but somehow were on different trucks. Now I have to wait an entire day longer before I can listen to some vinyl. And with my luck, FedEx won't deliver it until close to the evening. Or worse it's going to require a signature and I won't make it to the door in time and then I'll have to wait until Monday, sheieieieieieeeeeeiiiiiit!!!

and on Xmas eve I put together a Power Wheel for a 5 year old. WHY can't the pieces come from the factory with the stickers already on? I enjoyed building it, I however did not enjoy applying the stickers at all. I took my sweet ass time, but it still didn't matter. Of the 25 stickers, not a single 1 went on perfectly. Either crooked, or close to straight but with some small bubbling and creases. And once they're on they're on, if you try to lift it to reposition, BOOM all sorts of creases. It's so damn annoying, if there's a person alive who can get all these stickers on flawlessly I would love to meet them and shake their hand.

Migrating a web server and it's just so frustrating how every distro uses their own syntax/format for the apache config file. I wish they would just stick to a standard so I can just drop in the old config and have it actually work. Btu noooo they need to do their own thing. Going from CentOS to Debian so the syntax is totally different. My vhosts are failing to start because of duplicate listener but I can't seem to find where that's happening.

Accidentally enabled Computrace in my laptop's BIOS last night. Didn't see the relevant services in the event log, so maybe it's not a huge deal.

If "Pizzeria Uno" at its absolute best even slightly compares to real Chicago deep-dish pizza in any way aside from being round and made of dough then the great "best pizza debate" with NY is completely over.

Last time I got food there it was straight-up disgusting AND fairly expensive. A 10 inch pie for $25? I can get a large at Pepe's with 3 toppings for a couple bucks more than that! (of course I HAVE places like Pepe's available and most folks don't)

Frankly even calling that stuff "pizza" is like calling McDogs a "gourmet hamburger" .... or Dominos good pizza!

I started my dishwasher without a pod in it. Stupid.

When I opened it I could tell the dishes were rinsed but not clean. Time to start over without the dementia aspect.

Broke my internet phone this morning. I carry it into my room at night to listen to music. When I plugged up the usb on my computer, it started bink-boinking connect/disconnect, and I slammed it down. The screen went black, but it still worked. Had to switch my account to a phone I got for my mother, but she couldn't use. Been considering it for awhile anyway, but figured I'd get as much as I could from my old $40 kyocera.

The kyocera was getting wonky anyway. I'd have to reboot it after using the hotspot so I could use the onboard data. Not bad for ~5 years continuous service. The new(er) phone's nicer, but I have to get it setup now. Flexing the kyocera, I got the display back well enough to shut it down, so it should be fixable in case of emergency, and I have to use it or something.

There is (was?) a Uno's Pizzeria in Modesto for a while...worst pizza ever. The frozen frisbees in the grocery store were better. We tried it twice.
First time, it was served cold...when we complained, they took it back, reheated it...we both got sick.
second time, (almost always give a restaurant two chances...everyone can have an off day) it was served hot...we both got food poisoning again. They closed a couple of months later. Not sure if they reopened or not.

The one in Milford CT that was closest to me closed down way before Covid. Not really a surprise.

Most of the cost is in the shipping, massive box, with a cooler inside and dry ice.

I think a lot of people in Chicago learn to think whatever shit chain nearest them is "real" Chicago pizza, much like a lot of people that grew up down the street from a Papa Johns think that is real pizza. Of course, the Uno's chain stores are shit too, only the original two on Ohio are good.

Pepe's isn't even kind of Chicago style pizza, so not sure why it is being brought into this. A 10" Chicago Style will feed as many as a large on regular crust.

The chain Uno's are completely different than the original two in Chicago. They sold their name to some restaurateur. The best pizza place in Oklahoma (The Hideaway) did the same, there is one real store with the original recipes and 40 fake ones with fake recipes.

The Uno's chains are terrible compared to the real thing, especially the ones in airport. Here is the real one: https://goo.gl/maps/2iWVibzaj1vUsZTi9 The giveaway? All the shit ones are "Uno's Bar & Grill" while the real one is "Pizzeria Uno."

Even though it was gross I recall still being hungry after finishing one of those Uno pies AND some of what my GF didn't want too .... a large from Pepe's weighs like 5lbs and I'm only good for about half of one.

The only reason I brought up Pepe's was as an example of quality vs price. I'm fully aware Uno's corporate version is NOT representative of good Chicago deep-dish pizza.

However I also have no interest in being responsible for "YAATOTPT"!

;)
