FWP...cut down a 12+' tall deodar cedar that previous owners of my house planted (a) too close to the fence, so the back side has to be constantly trimmed or it pushes the neighbor's fence over...and (b) is too close to the road, making it difficult to see when backing out of the driveway...so...limbing it and cutting the trunk down was no problem...but the stump...only about 8" diameter...but with large, deep roots. ended up having to cut them with a sawz-all so I could pull it out with my truck. After it was out, I noticed something in the bottom of the hole...fck...piece of black "cable." I know the cable feed runs down that side, but I thought I was clear of it....fortunately, NOT the cable co-ax...black cable just a bit larger...with numerous pairs of wires inside. FCK! phone cable, I think.. Fortunately, I don't have Century Link service...so it doesn't affect my house...checked with the neighbor...his works...<phew>
So, being the responsible idiot I am...I called CenturyLink and reported the cut cable...I'll find out tomorrow if it's theirs...and if they're gonna charge me to repair it. If they want me to pay...fuck it. Not gonna do it since I don't have their service anyway. Let the next person who owns the house deal with it.
