I spent over an hour an hour at home struggling to replace batteries and stop the smoke detectors from chirping only to find out it was one locked away in my roommate's room... and he wasn't home. That would've been a decent FWP on its own, but it just the start.
It was already well past midnight and the chriping would keep me up. I figured I'd crash at my mom's place to kill two birds with one stone, since she wanted help with something in the morning (she still can't figure out how to use her Apple TV).
When I got there I set my Galaxy Note 9 on the night stand beside the bed and went to sleep. It started buzzing in the dark so I started feeling around and it ended up dropping to the floor. Figured it was totally fine since there was carpet and it fell less than two feet. I woke the display and everything looked fine so I went back to sleep.
Turns out there was a pile of tools on the floor between the bed and the night stand... three tin-snips/wire-cutters. Couldn't tell in the dark due to OLED not lighting black areas but the morning light revealed the corner of the screen was totally shattered.
Can't imagine why the snips were loose inside and not in the tool shed or a tool box, so I asked my mother what they were doing there. Her answer: "For you to deal with."
Wha-?! Just what was she expecting me to do with a random pile of tools in her home that have nothing to do with me, my tools, or my home? Rather than answer, she ran off to some appointment and I'm still bewildered by it all. Just going to leave these where I found them, I guess.
Sucks.
