I think my girl cat's failing. She spent last night puking, and now doesn't want to eat. Lucky would be she got /something/, and will feel better in a couple days. Realistically, it's probably her chronic renal failure :^(

My turn for the shit ass on-call rotation for work. Then we just had a guy who did a lot of the monitoring of the system (what we do for on-call, basically) quit with zero notice last Friday, lol. I don't really blame him though. Ugh I can't wait to GTFO this job.

There's been lot of complaints about that new system, they send every alert as a presidential alert. Even cancellations. So when you get woken up once, you know another one is going to come eventually. I need to start not sleeping with my phone next to me.

Bah in that case I'd say screw the notifications. What notifications are you getting that are so important? My only notifications are just normal app ones, notifications that I have a new email (which aren't important, unless you think my new credit card statement or 10% on Cabela's online are important enough to be woken up for), etc. You could also set a reminder or alarm if it's something specific, and enable Do Not Disturb, but allow alarms.

That's what I do at night or if I wanna take a nap, enable DND and with that I have only calls from favorite contacts and alarms enabled. Rest are silent. Amber alerts... here I actually think those are treated different than normal notifications, at least I thought so. Not too long ago they made those mandatory, I thought (I'm in the States). But I'm not positive.

I was thinking more stuff like tornado warnings etc. We don't really get anything like that here though. We actually did get a tornado warning a few years back but I almost wonder if it was sent by mistake as there was hardly any sign of any serious weather at the time.

But yeah if they don't fix this I may very well just opt out of those completely. Sucks for the parents, but I can't do much about a kid missing down south 800km from where I live.

Vehicles with headlights that are as bright as military searchlights. FUCK YOU for killing my night vision when I'm trying to look for deer on this deer-infested stretch of road. Their regular lights are as bright as my brights, yet they'll flip their brights on anyway when they're behind you. Makes me wanna bring one of my rifles with me in the car so I can shoot those annoying fucking things out. God that would feel good, lmao.

For reasons that went to the grave with Steve Jobs, when importing a CD into iTunes the song order gets reversed on the playlist. Usually I remember to flip the order before loading on the iPod. I forget with the last CD I ripped so the songs play in reverse order. In this case the music is a mass so by the time it's over Jesus gets yanked out of heaven and stuck back up on the cross and our sins are unforgived.

I absolutely hate that crap. Especially when they are freaking blue. It's like getting arc flashed by welding. There is absolutely no reason for head lights to be that freaking bright. You need to be able to see 100 feet or so in front of you, not the ISS.

I sometimes feel like having a mirror that can flip up and reflect it back at them. But somehow that would probably be illegal, yet their lights arn't.

Speaking of slow networks, my work's network has been acting so weird lately. It's a combination of network/local issues. Suddenly you'll start to not be able to access random network resources. Stuff will just die on you. Wait a little while, or do an ipconfig /flushdns, and it sometimes fixes it. It will do it to one person, then later do it to another person, the problem just makes it's rounds. I think it's routing randomly going whacky, because they got some stuff on internet routable IPs that start with 1.x.x.x . I think someone screwed up at one point and did a typo and meant to put 10, but it was too late as the IP was hard referenced in too many places such as firewall rules, DNS etc so they just kept it. At least that's my guess.

The girl seems to be a bit better. She lost a bunch of weight, but has started eating canned food. I used to save it as a treat, but that's all she wants now. She doesn't seem interested in the dry anymore.

Fathead's been awol for over a week now. I'm thinking something happened to him. Kinda miss seeing him in the morning. Spot doesn't come around as much either. I really like her and Mom. If not for my girl, they'd both be in my house now.

Yea, when she was first diagnosed, I tried switching her to wet, but she wasn't enthused, and wouldn't eat much. I figured it was better to live well than long, so I gave her the crunchies she wanted. Over some period of time, I found one wet food she'd accept(some kind of Friskies turkey, gravy, and preferably with cheese), and gave it to her as a treat with ground egg shells on top. I didn't want to overdo it, and have her burnout, but now it seems it's all she wants.
