I bought a wet vac to clean up a friend's rental that leaked water when he was out of town. I wanted to spot clean some sections of carpet, and I can't get it to work. It sucks up water, but won't apply it. Back's too sore to fool with it, so I dumped the sudsy water on the carpet, and vacuumed it up. Close enough...

Also, the Irish festival's today and tomorrow, but my back's too sore to deal with portable chairs for hours on end. I'm getting my fire and whisky time, so it isn't a complete wash, but there's other stuff I'd rather do; either the festival, or a day hiking in the woods.

Yea but we don't get the day after thanksgiving off like a lot of private companies do. I think Bush sr. gave us it off once?
I don't officially get off black friday, but I have wide latitude regarding my time off. I'll be taking off, but using my personal time to do it. How much personal time do I have? Who knows?! I claim time, and I get paid for it. That's because I donate A LOT of time to the company, and don't abuse the system.

I've bitched before about... things... But all in all, I'm happy with the system. Everything's seat of the pants, and little policy, but that's where I do best. I'll take care you, you take care of me, and it'll all work out. Maximizing the money I make isn't my primary concern. I just want to do my job, and not deal with "regulations". That's pretty much what I've got.

Looking for a Nightmare Before Christmas hoodie for my daughter, and nothing's really grabbing me, or I don't trust the Amazon reseller. I want to send it to her before julaften so she doesn't get eaten by the jul cat.

Watching LSU Football with the half wit QB (missed several wide open receivers) and kicker (missed a short FG and 2 PAT) is not good for my blood pressure.

Bought the Horizon Zero Dawn DLC from my US PSN account only to realize that the HZD disc I bought off of Amazon was illicit (UK disc in a US package) and the DLC wouldn't work with it. Convinced Amazon to give me a refund and bought the full game off of PSN only to realize that I couldn't transfer my save game+ that I'd build up from the other version. Then realized that I could actually buy the DLC using a dummy UK account and download it on my PS4. So I'm out the $50 for buying the full game twice but don't have to rebuild the profile.

Went to audio record sandhill cranes today. There were other bird watchers there. In an hour's recording there is no more than five contiguous seconds when people shut their damn fool pie holes. Yap, yap, yap. No one gives a shit that you are from Alaska, that your RV has three slideouts, or that you saw a bluejay; shut your mouth. Then next plague cannot come soon enough.

It's nice out latetly (nice as in dry, because it's below zero) but I'm working. When I'm done my shifts it's suppost to warm up and rain again. SOB I'm never going to get my shed finished. It seems to constantly be like this, all the days where it's dry out I'm working and minute I'm off it starts raining again. So sick of this. It should not rain in freaking November.

I had to get a concrete slab poured in order to build mine. I couldn't get the floor panels to lie perfectly flat which is sort of a prerequisite since everything else snaps together and parts are expecting to connect to other parts where they're supposed to be.

I also had to downsize the shed since anything over 100sq ft and the town makes me jump through all sorts of hoops. Plus they then consider it an improvement to the property and gets included in your tax assessment. Fortunately I just had to remove one section of panels to get it a tad under the limit. Sucks that I had to waste the material but the alternative was unacceptable.

Hopefully putting it all together is as easy as the videos make it look. Yeah, I'm sure that's likely.

Logged off for a few hours and did some work. Fed the horses, got more water for the cows, plowed the field for next years crop of alfalfa, and did some weeding. Not too bad.

J/K HAHAHA I lived in North Dakota, but I don't anymore. I did do some yard work though. I don't know where the energy came from considering I have a cold and I've gotten very little sleep.

Just seen my Cuz who's a nurse bagged a nice buck. I wish I had some deer sausage right about now. I was raised on that stuff!

Yeah here the limit is like 108sqft so made mine 100 to be safe. I hate the fact that with all the taxes you pay they still put all sorts of restrictions of what you can or can't do and they'll find any excuse to tax you more if they feel like it.

My ground was uneven too but I leveled off some cement blocks and 6x6 beams and everything sits on it. Was going to put piers that go below frost level but didn't bother.

All my walls are built but set to the side, the floor is tarped. Need like 2 solid dry days so I can take the tarp off and then install the walls, trusses and then sheet, and then the next day weather proof it. Idealy I can probably get all that done in one day but I want at least 2 days to be safe. Then if it rains after that it's not so bad as it will be fully protected.

Bought a couple wool blankets for the winter, since my old winter comforter was... very old, and kinda ratty.

So, one of them has sort of an "oily" wool smell - not unpleasant, but distinctive. And now I can tell which cats have been sleeping on my bed, because they're absorbing the odor from the blanket.

Went for a walk and the people that walked near me never said hi, no smile, nothing. It's as if this town of 80,000 is turning into a big city where "prick" is the norm.

My Bro has all kinds of stories as a bike rider going around town and on trails. People here are assholes!

It's not "prick" - they're respecting your privacy by ignoring you. 80,000 is a reasonably busy small city - you don't get to be alone, but you can pretend.

It's rural areas, where everybody knows everybody and outsiders are automatically distrusted, where you have to immediately announce yourself and your good intentions or be shot. ;-)

I'm originally from the deep South and it took me decades to get out of the habit of smiling and greeting people I met on the street. It still feels a little strange not to do it but I've mostly acclimated.

I still wave and say "hi" when I'm out walking. F'em if they can't accept politeness.

Ordered a large pizza late last night (before 9 p.m.) with 1/2 off special. About 10 minutes later, the store called me and said it did not have the dough I ordered but something else. I was hungry so I said it would be ok. Well, the dough was meh at best but there was plenty of toppings so it was not so bad for $8.xx after sale tax for a large pizza with 9 toppings. Need to order the pizza earlier next time.

Last time I went walking around where I live I'd say 50% of the people, maybe a bit more, smiled and said "hi." This is metro Detroit. I'm with ya, though, haha.

My bitch-of-the-day is that I just booked tickets for a flight home (roundtrip) Dec. 21-28 and I should've fricking ordered the goddamn tickets a few weeks ago when I first looked. Now they jacked up the afternoon flight almost $100 so I gotta take the f'ing 8:25 am one. I guess I hadn't confirmed with work about my days off at the time, but still. Why did they do that? Don't they know I hate getting up early? FML

I flew home from a wedding yesterday. I bought a non-transferable ticket and because my plans changed I ended up at the airport six hours early, so I couldn't move the flight to an earlier one. Once I got on the plane, I was in the middle seat between two people who wanted the armrests down and weren't budging from them. The couple in front of me were leaned back and being overly animated and weird. The lady in front of me jammed her seat back slamming me in the knees and once we landed she actually pushed the kid in the aisle seat of her row out of the way so she could get off the plane. His dad was trying to get his bag out for him and she just shoved the whole operation out of her way, pushing the overhead bin up. She's got some karma coming her way at some point.

People are usually jackasses anyway, but they really dial it up at the airport and on planes.

Well, I've live in this town when it had only 30,000 or so people. It wasn't like this. Now it seems like everyone is affraid of their own shadow like city dweller folk.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77gKSp8WoRg

To go from 30k to 80k in a short time is quite fast growth. Your city is probably getting more of a big city mentality. 80k is still pretty big. My city hovers around the 45k mark but it feels busier than it used to be, like more traffic etc. I would not mind living in a smaller city, but I have a good job and most of my family is here so I stick around. There's a city of about 1,300 a couple hours from here that is practically giving away house properties as they're trying to recover from when a paper plant shut down years back. It's kinda tempting.

You should speak up. It's nice if you're 6'4" and ask them to explain themselves for being d-bags.:D

Being 5'6" has it's advantages on a plane when it comes to tight seats. :D I can usually manage to make myself comfortable. I do hate getting an aisle seat though because then I don't really get to enjoy the view.
