Over the weekend I tried playing ut2k4 on a phone connection. It kinda sorta worked, but I had some unexplained lag and inconsistent ping. Felt like packetloss, but the gauge didn't show any. I'm curious to see if it works better on 2g when I run out of high speed allotment. Slow and steady is better than fast and jaggy. If I can duplicate my experience on dialup, I'll be good to go.

Best Buy is selling their last shipment of NES Classics Monday morning and each store is getting a minimum of 7, yet, at the same time I have a college placement test that same day at 2pm. If I stay up all night camped outside BB I may yet get one, but risk being groggy for the exam.

Oi Nintendo, why must you torment me so?
Update!
Well I bombed the placement test so it looks like remedial math for me. BUT on the upswing...

I got an NES Classic Edition!!!! Finally!

One of my Samsung 850 EVO 2TB SSDs died on Saturday. It was part of a 6TB array with two other of the same drives.

My plans for Saturday night gaming were ruined.

I went to Microcenter and picked up a new one. Restored from a backup located on my 10TB HDD overnight so that Sunday gaming was possible.

The bright side of it is when the replacement drive gets to me from RMA, I'll have an 8TB array.

If you're willing to drop an extra $800 just so you can be playing games again by tomorrow, maybe you'd be interested in a parity raid instead?

Ah dang. I've only done up to the 1TB, a failure on a 2TB sounds awful :(

I do Samsung NVMe's now with backups, but the pain is that there are no USB readers for the 2280 drives (I believe due to the PCIe connection), so you have to do the restore with a motherboard-connected NVMe chip. Yuck. But the speeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed is worth it :D

Just came back from Cancun. Hung over. Had to work today. Tomorrow I'm going to Amsterdam and will be on vacation for 3 weeks. Gonna be short on vacation time. Hope I don't get fired.,

So I have a dummy account on Facebook & Pinterest that I use to pin recipes when I'm bored, like when I'm waiting in line or something. Everyone once in awhile, I export the links into a gDocs file of "recipes to try" with categories for drinks, desserts, breakfasts, dinners, Instant Pot, etc. so I have a list of ideas when I'm in a cooking mood. Had some time to kill tonight & hadn't exported my FB saved links in awhile. Thought it read 481 saved links, figured it would take a good hour or so to sort the links into groups while binging Netflix in the background. Nope, it was 4,981 saved links. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! ADHD ftl lol. A random sampling for your pleasure:

40-clove garlic chicken
Famous butter chicken (not the Indian kind, which is also good)
Chicken fried cauliflower steaks
Cured salmon gravlax
Monkey meat
Copycat Texas Roadhouse rolls
The most delicious potato salad you will ever have
Honey garlic roasted carrots
Peach hand pies
Lemon meringue rice krispie treats

PC gaming is a critical priority in life, but an 8TB SSD array is just too awesome to pass up. Ya know?

Walked into my bathroom. Felt something on my head. Recognized it was a spiderweb. Suddenly my eyes focused on a huge spider about 18" from my face, hanging mid-air. I started walking back, but the spiderweb it was on was stuck on my forehead, so it started coming towards me. BWAAAAAAAAAAAAA! I found a plastic hanger nearby & started karate-chopping it. Took me like 5 minutes to find where the spider was hiding. He ded now.

I don't know if that qualifies as a #fwp, but tl;dr a spider tried to headcrab me today and lost.

Just the other day I was digging this catalog up to confirm 2,000 units of Zelda Limited Edition Gold GB Cameras and I asked Ichinisan "How many people do you think ordered the pocket watch?"
You'd have to be a pretty big Nintendo fanatic to buy the Zelda pocket watch.

My time off went by too fast, now I'm back at work, and after this I go on a long stretch of day shifts. My next decent stretch of time off is in May.

What? Like the kind of fanatic who might buy two (2) NES Classic Edition consoles just to have the variant with the ESRB logo and the launch version? ;)

Lined up overnight for the second one! Also, notice that we asked for the shipper box after lining up hours in advance of the midnight launch last November! ;)

Thanks for the tip about Best Buy having these on Monday, BTW.

Also, there's a Euro/Australia variant. We'll probably add the Famicom variant if I find an affordable one in Japan on my vacation.

Today is the day my Citi 2% cash back credit card closes and I only earn about $980 ($980.86 to be exact) of cash back this month.

Need to work harder to bring it over $1K per month.

Time to get the 2.5% cash back credit card pronto. Full speed ahead.

Oh and I am so envy of those that were able to get the classic NES.

Flew from Greenland to Reykjavik Iceland in the sim and on approach the wind kept veering me of the localizer and the glideslope must have been more than 3 degrees because my standard rate of decent of 700 FPM had to be adjust to around 900. Then I forgot to disengage the auto thrust so I had to do a go-around. All in all a shity landing that pisses me off! LOL I don't fly the ILS automatically unless it's a total white out and even then I can manually fly it, but that wind is a killer! Note to self: Self, remember to crab better. .

Bought some muller light strawberry yoghurt 3 hours ago, came home checked the expiry date and it's due freaking tomorrow. Checked iPhone and now it's 2:14AM so theoretically it's out of date might as well kill my self now.
The only solution is to eat the entire container today.

So pissed off I brushed my teeth and then rinsed my mouth with expensive mouthwash. 30minutes later I dont feel sleepy so I went downstairs and had a Magnum ice cream. After that I didn't brush my teeth. What is life I might kill my self

I only recently started flossing. Having to brush & floss means no more late-night meals after readying for bed... a good way to keep yourself in check.

Wow that's fast. Almost makes one wonder if it's all shoddy work. You see these subdivisions go up so fast and it's all minimum code and even less and people end up with all sorts of issues down the line.

They have about a dozen framers. Build some walls on site, but some, and all roof trusses are brought in on truck. They use a crane to hoist roof up and put it one at a time very fast. They work from about 6am to about 830 pm. They worked Easter Sunday, they worked Christmas. There is always someone working.

We put a bid in last June. Outside was done, brick, siding, driveway, etc inside was not. But took till Oct to get done it's just the framing that is very fast. But still I've seen the entire house from dirt to done is 6 months. They aren't scared of work. I have no doubts it meets standards, but I can see how it looks shady.
