My 64gb card in my phone flaked out stsrting yesterday. Long access/seek times, and becoming inaccessable shortly after bootup. Hooking it up to a card reader wouldn't maintain access either. I wanted a new 128gb card anyway, but had put it off, so now it's a pita.

I go buy a 128gh card, transfer a bunch of data, and for kicks, try the old card in a reader again. Works fine. Access time is quick, speed is good :^S I have no idea what's up with this thing, but suspect heat? Maybe magic. Who the F knows...

Well, it happened. My piece of shit video card finally died on me. Currently writing from 'Safe Mode with Networking' because turning it off/on still results in red bars or lines everywhere. First time I've ever had a card die on me, never overclocked it. Got 5 years out of it, but I'm pretty sure my Nvidia a few systems back lasted 6 and still worked when I swapped it out. That's two dud AMD cards in a row, not going to be a third...

Turns out the flight isn't leaving until 8.
Mother got me up a solid two hours early.
And it's ball-sweatingly warm down here, and will be icy cold in Buffalo. Gonna have sweaty icicles dangling from my scrotum.

at least it was 5 years so not a biggie if you're not tight on money (unless it was very high end).
Still, usually they just don't die.

Yesterday gas price: $1.93 per gallon of regular gas. Today price: $2.03 for the same gas at the same station. Another station in the next block: $2.29.

Twas an AMD 6850 so ~$215 that replaced a one year old 5770 because I had to RMA the latter -- 5770 kept dying while on the desktop, which is what the 6850 also did but less frequently and dropped dead after doing that one last time.

Anyway, took a couple hours but I'm now running an EVGA 1050 -- did some cleaning while at it. Love the fact that it doesn't need a separate power connector. Currently idling at 22 C, my 6850 idled around 40 C no matter the time of year. Here's to another 5 years unless the other 6 year old parts fry themselves and take it with it.

Taxes add %30 extra to the charge. Plus much gas sold in the Eastern Provinces is imported from USA and other foreign states because the pols are scarred of the environmentalists and have not built a west to east pipeline that would reduce pump prices by selling gas from oil produced in Alberta. Completely kiss ass policy, pols would rather let gas be high priced than face off the tree buggers and other incest victims in these groups.

I'm copying music over to a Fire tablet to use with the stereo. At some point iTunes thought it would be a good idea to make second copies of every song I purchased from the iTunes store and place them in the folders with the originals, thus doubling the space taken up by the files.

So I tried to do my part to help Mother Earth so I sent all the aluminum cans to the recycling center. The total was about 6 lbs and the payout was about $2.50. I feel rich now. Time to partyyyyyyyy. :D

Oh, and the 64 GB micro xD card for the vehicle camera is still not here yet. Darn you, Amazon.

Amazon now says that the item shipped today and I should get it by Dec 31. Amazon hasn't jumped the shark yet but they certainly have put the water skis on.
The thing finally arrived. The manufacturer lied, this socket does not meet the specification for a G24q-1 lamp base. I'll have to modify it to work with a G24q-1 lamp. Piss me off.

This is disturbing. Since I upgraded my video card yesterday, I decided to look into how much it'd cost to upgrade the rest of it... The answer: $400.

PSU was $130 7 years ago and still kicking, probably only draws 50% of its capacity at peak. Only need a mobo, CPU, and DDR4 ram. Looks like an i3 6100, only dual core, can keep up with an i5 reasonably well for most of my uses. A retail copy of Windows 10 is only $150 here and it comes on a USB drive so that's a must. Most annoying thing would be having to relearn all the commands and menu locations then.

There is always the boxcutter.
Or "I apologize for my inadequacy" delivered with deadpan. That's always what I want to do, but I can never remember because I'm always preoccupied with not slapping the person.
