Went to the shopping centers and the malls after work today and it was crazy. Goodness people were everywhere. I was online at JCPenny when security personnel said someone was stealing a box of shoes and it happened at least a few times earlier.

This is why I do not like to live in big cities. Where I am at now is less than 500K (the whole area). Imagine have to deal with million and million of people as in NYC, LA, ChiTown, etc. Yike.

I live near NYC and PARTS of the area can get real shitty during the holidays. Basically as in just too crowded. Any malls on weekends during the holiday season and especially the week leading up to Christmas - they are slammed. Some places in NYC itself, like the Rockefeller Center area for example. It's really only an issue during the holidays, and only for some places and areas. Other parts of the NYC Metro area are still fine during the holidays and the rest of the year is great in the biggest (and best) Metropolitan area in the country. And that Metropolitan area has over 20 million people in a densely populated area. It's wonderful.

It's pretty easy to get around though - order everything from Amazon, like I did, except for one thing I had to go in person for. Of course that one place was a restaurant in fucking Rockefeller Center. It was very crowded, I dealt with it for 2 blocks, got in got my gift certificate then subway'd the hell home. Subway was not crowded, just walking near Rockefeller Center.

Small price to pay to live near the greatest city in the world. Or you can shop earlier or on weekdays a few weeks before Christmas. If you wait till the last minute expect to suffer.

I couldn't imagine living in a Metro area with just 500K people though, I'd go stir crazy. That would be like living in a little village.

Tried to log in Chase this morning and saw the ad for free credit score from its site. Clicked on it and then found out that I will have to enroll (create new account and ID and personal information) just to see it. Why can't Chase just give the score as American Express, Bank of America, Capital One, and Citibank? Damn you Chase. And on top of that, I do not think it was for FICO score.

I was too lazy to go to the grocery store before it closed at 4pm (christmas eve) so I ordered some stuff on Amazon PrimeNow instead.

I have to work throughout Christmas. But it's like double time and a half for both stats. So really can't complain. :p And it's night shift, so it *should* be quiet. But every year something happens where it's ridiculous busy so I'm not holding my breath. There is already a winter storm warning in effect.

Another FWP: Tim Hortons is closed. :( There is probably one open but did not have time to start driving around.

Maybe my family will be nice enough to bring me a coffee later tonight. :p

Boxing Day sale started on Best Buy and I forgot, so I had sit in an online queue like a peasant.

Edit: Looking up tablets... So, tablet is ~$140 and an "official" case is about $40. Okay.

Papa Johns is closed and Dominos has no specials. No pizza love on Christmas Eve it seems.
I went out and got my pizza early today. Thought about getting a whole pie but settle instead on getting several slices to heat up as needed.

Check out Pizza Hut. You should be able to order any large pizza with any topping for $10 plus sale tax but you have to pick it up because they won't do delivery on that special. If they are open of course. I just check and the closest PH is closed but one is still open but a bit further away.

Unfortunately there's no Pizza Hut nearby. Saint Louis is the boondocks of pizza.

The 24 hour news appears to have let people go home... It said live in the corner but the live report was the exact same as half an hour ago. Psh... how dare people spend Christmas with their families.

You should have anticipated things shutting down on Christmas Eve.

I have a loaded fridge and lots of goodies in the pantry, as well as soda and juice.

Honestly if I ran a business I'd probably give the staff the whole Christmas week off. Treat the whole week like a stat. Or at very least run skeleton crew.

Since you're so close to Chicago, the evil epicenter of that festering satanic stew they euphemistically call "deep dish pizza", do you get actual legit pizza or something closer to the abortion that they serve in Chicago?

Saint Louis has its own style using something called Provel cheese. It's a thin cracker crust with processed cheese. It is to the devil what communion wafers are to Jesus.

I got sent to the grocery 3 times today on Christmas Eve day to buy Christmas dinner supplies and for OTC medications. It ended up costing me almost $40 walking past the Salvation Army guy ringing the bell. He was a good old veteran with a big grin.

I've never had deep dish. I want it so bad... looks amazing. Nothing like that peasant regular pizza with the shallow dish. There's a local place that has it, a chain, but I don't think I'm in their delivery area and they're across town.

Next door neighbor has a bunch of overnight visitors and one of the car alarm went off around 4 a.m. and it was so loud. Grrrrrrrrrr. No auto shut off either so it lasted for a while.

It is time to eat all those stuffed peppers, Salisbury steak and lasagna frozen treats lurking in fridge!
