First world problems; Having too new of a house to where there is constantly dust on everything. Having too many vehicles to keep them all in the garage, film of dust all the time on them. Several houses going up at once and street full of vehicles. In front, one both sides, and behind me. So much noise when I try to sleep. Ugh. At least they're doing it quick. Two weeks ago the house in front was a concrete slab.

On the bright side, it's new-build dust?

My neighbor gutted his 100 year old, lead paint and asbestos filled house over a few months. They also jack-hammered away his concrete driveway and slabs. Construction took like 2 years. Can't wait for the lung cancer and to go retarded-er.

I always forget that some concrete can have asbestoes in it. I've done plenty of work in my basement involving drilling in concrete. Yum. I think my house was built at a time where they were starting to use Asbestos less though. 1965ish.

Major gut rehabs can take forever depending upon the contractors. I sold my clients a 1.3 million dollar 4 family brownstone that they planned to convert to a triplex along with a garden level apartment. It took well over a year and probably cost them another half a million at the least due to all the layout changes they were making. Luckily once they started gutting it the building's bones were all found to be in good shape.

Tried to improve a customer dial up internet speed. Tried multiple pci modems. Went from 28.8Kbps to 32-34Kbps. This guy is set on staying on dial up instead of switching to our wireless internet for $10 more.

If you want long, there's a home a few blocks away in my hood that's still not done after ~5 years. I know because I walked by it every morning on my way to work for a few years, occasionally walk by it now. Simple, 3 story detached house. Every few months, you'll see like an extra piece of plywood or window added. In that span of time, a half dozen other homes that have been gutted and finished on the same street.

Yeah, it's all new. They'll be done within a year. Probably less. They're throwing these things up. From like 6am to past dark. Every Saturday, some crews even working Sundays.

Could be permit issues. That's what happened to a house right near my folks. Eventually they gave up and now it's sitting there half done. An eyesore.

Good luck with the off-gassing too. New builds need quite a while to air out all the VOCs...

My guess is the owners running out of money or financing. Houses on that block were probably over a million when they bought -- just the way the market is/was, it's not a great or rich neighborhood.

Speaking of construction projects that take forever there's this hotel that's been under construction for years. Something about the owners going throuh a divorce, so basically the wife took half the money and now there's not enough money to finish the project. Every couple days there's a few guys working on it. We've gotten quite a lot of hotels in the past years. Apparently they get booked up too. Hockey tournaments and stuff, I guess.

At least wait till it comes out on DVD to pirate it. :p That's probably a cam you have. Or a screener with text on it.

I really want to see it in theatres but this is kinda a bad time of year to try to find someone to go to the movies with.

I have some errands to run and made a list on my phone but the battery was a bit low so I figured I'd kill some time while it charges a bit. I got ready to leave and realize I forgot to actually plug it in to the charger. Doh. I should be fine so I put it on for like 5ish minutes then I'll head out.

I got back from errands, ate a sub that I picked up on the way home, and realized I forgot one thing. The traffic is INSANE right now and don't really feel like going back in that.

I don't know how people in big cities manage to deal with the constant heavy traffic. This is bad, but still not as bad as big cities.

Some fucking retard can't understand why everyone keeps yelling at him to stop using his hands to get food out of shared/communal bowls. Fucktard "washes" his hands by rinsing them for 5 seconds and goes dumpster diving daily. Then he gets sick every other day with diarrhea or stomach cramps, but oh, it's everyone else's fault, can't be that he's eating his own shit and everyone else's trash by not showering or washing his hands.

Yeah, I've driving all over the city with my rental/loaner/main car swap. It's the Friday before Christmas, it's sleeting, and people don't turn their lights on. It's chaos. One more trip tonight too.

Do you guys have any traffic cams? I want to see the Timmins rush.

Actually you made me remember we do have a few live cams. Found one here:

Rush is dying down though, was worse during the day.

A key component of my death ray is supposed to be delivered today according to Amazon. I also note that the piece hasn't yet shipped. In my mind, Amazon's situational awareness is suspect at the moment.

Edit: Upon more careful inspection of the shipping status page I note that Amazon stated an expected delivery date of "Dec 15" but did not specify a year so technically they aren't wrong. As I ordered the item on Dec 05, I suspect that, contrary to what was posted on the item description page, Amazon doesn't have the item in stock or can't find it (it's rather small).
Amazon now says the part will not get here until next Friday. This is really cutting it close to inauguration day Christmas.

Amazon now says that the item shipped today and I should get it by Dec 31. Amazon hasn't jumped the shark yet but they certainly have put the water skis on.

I was gonna take off between jul and new years, but a big client I take care of isn't taking the week off like they usually do, and it's gonna be warm, so it ruins the mood anyway. Maybe winter will come in January :^/

Went to the shopping centers and the malls after work today and it was crazy. Goodness people were everywhere. I was in line at JCPenny register when security personnel said someone was stealing a box of shoes and it happened at least a few times earlier.

This is why I do not like to live in big cities. Where I am at now is less than 500K (the whole area). Imagine have to deal with million and million of people as in NYC, LA, ChiTown, etc. Yike.

Oh and friends in Louisiana said they will have to pay sale tax on purchases from Amazon beginning of January 1 of 2017. So 30 out of 50 states are paying sale taxes on Amazon purchases now/soon?

Was just reading another forum. Some "children" were arguing about money and one posted a screenshot of his bank account balances -- they were at least 30 or 40. According to a later post, he may have posted a second pic with his account number before removing. Well, sure showed him. Then there was something about meeting up somewhere to prove something.

I'm already cynical as hell but sweet Jésus: people.

Ship me your whiskey and I'll take care of your part.
Hard to remote in for my work. If you come up to do my job though, I'll have plenty of whisky for you.

Since we're talking whisky, holy shit scotch prices went through the roof. They've easily doubled in the last ten years. Whisky I could have gotten for $60 is now $120 D^:

On the plus side, rye is making a big comeback, and the prices are about what you would have paid for scotch ten years ago. I was gonna pick up some Catcher's rye tomorrow. The bottle is amazing, but I just read a review, and it's not that great. Disappointing. Hard to justify spending $60 for a pretty bottle of rotgut. I might get a bottle of Pikesville instead; the premium version. Their cheapo bottle is exceptionally drinkable, and smooth. Like a poor man's Irish for $14. I haven't had the premium yet, bit it sells for ~$50 if I remember right.
