Isn't HP stream a Chromebook? All docs and settings should be stored on web.
  1. Shut down the tablet.
  2. First, press the Volume Down button and then press and hold the Power button for about 4 seconds. ...
  3. From the Startup menu, tap F11 to select System Recovery. ...
  4. On the Choose an option screen, tap Troubleshoot. ...
  5. On the Troubleshoot screen, tap Reset your PC.

More like a netbook. It's not a tablet, but a small notebook. I think it's a Stream 13. It inexplicably uses 64bit Windows even though it only has 2gb of ram soldered(I think) to the board. I'd prefer it had gnu/linux for security purposes, but it's up to her.

Biggest issue is if I install Xubuntu, it's a one way street without tracking down an iso, and other nonsense. I could save the restore partition, but that's just wasted space on a very small drive. I'll figure it out. I have an approach lined up for both options. Just need to find out how she wants to proceed.

edit:

Xubuntu it is. Everything seems to work, and daughter doesn't care. Not sure why she wanted Windows in the first place. I offered to put a sane o/s on it when I gave it to her, but she wanted Windows even though she doesn't use Windows software afaik.

Some fucktard I know was offered, allegedly, Tylenol III from some guy on the street and he took it. Then he went around asking if anyone had some more. Never mind that he's a Hep B carrier and has more than one addiction.

Just look at your hydro delivery rates and the 407 toll highway rates
Hydro has gotten so ridiculous. I seriously need to start looking at alternatives like solar, wind or even steam, since I won't be able to afford these constant increases forever. Pretty much have to cancel the service to make it worthwhile though. Delivery is more than half the bill.

Dropped my tablet and the screen shattered, it still works amazingly enough, ebay states it will take only 9-14 days to deliver a new screen...i have my doubts it will get here (Dominican) before the New Year

I used to look at the Time of Use rates and wondered what the big deal was. They seemed low. Then I looked at all the extra bullshit charges that were half the bill. Okay.

And was it this past year that the utility said they had to raise rates because people were cutting back/conserving? Fuck off.

Edit: Also, for some reason, my cable TV provider won't offer a Wifi or ethernet box option. Its main competitor has had one for years. This is stupid, I have a 30' loop of RG6 hanging under a TV. And when I asked them to come add a signal booster years ago, the guy drilled a new hole in the exterior wall and trashed a room. It's just data and I get my internet through the same cable.

Right now I'm paying about 170/mo on equal billing, but I've seen it go as high as 270. It's really sporadic, even with equal billing. Close to $100 of that is all BS fees, $50 for delivery, then a whole bunch of other charges that I pay even if I don't use any power.

And yeah they actually raised the rates because people were conserving too much. The whole operation is ridiculously corrupt.

Wow. My worst bill here has been 1424 kWh which was $182. Of course, it was a terrible Summer, and I have a tremendous volume of air to cool, so I'm not that upset.

The pop-out thermometer doodad on my turkey didn't pop out, so I had to use a meat thermometer instead like some kind of savage. (It was ten degrees over done.)

The green bean casserole recipe I read did not tell me to drain the canned green beans, so I did not. In retrospect, I really should have.

The amount of leftover turkey we have is only surpassed by the amount of leftover turkey gravy. When I drained the pan of drippings, I ended up with enough to fill a very large saucepan.

The gravy was made in multiple batches, because of the quantity.

I forgot to add the wine to the first batch.

I don't have any more empty food storage containers of any type, at all. Even the square sandwich containers from the lunch boxes were pressed into service to hold leftovers.

We already had a bunch of leftovers in the fridge. (Half a pizza, some baked chicken, etc.) We're probably going to end up throwing a lot of it out.

Sounds like a minor disaster :^D

I don't cook big meals, and I don't like leftovers. If I have more than a small meal left after dinner, I screwed up afaic

Tickets aren't for sale yet for a concert I want to attend. I can't make air, hotel, car arrangements until I know I have a ticket. Meanwhile airfare is cheapish and hotels are filling up. Tickets were supposed to go on sale last Sunday. :(

I heard about that. They're making this out like it's a nice thing... it was never meant to be on there in first place. They keep doing these tiny things but it's never going to bring it back to what it was before. They also took off the debt retirement fee, which is probably the stupidest fee in first place. At least they're trying I suppose.

What we need is to have CSA start a pluto mission in partnership with SpaceX, and Wynne should be the first person to go. One way trip.

It turned out fine, for the most part. Come on over for leftovers - I promise I won't take offense if you avoid the green bean soup. I mean casserole.

Looking at some Black Friday advertisements... I'm not going to buy anything but it is upsetting to see a name-brand 40" LCD TV going for $250 when you paid $900 7 years ago...

Haha I know right. I bought my 55" LED for about 2 grand on sale years ago. It was regular 3 grand and it was on sale and there was a sale on top of that sale so it was 2 grand. I get a company discount at that store, so I pushed the limit asking if they could honor it but since it was already that much on sale they could not, but it was still a very good deal at the time.

But now, 55" LEDs go for under a grand. Damn... even 4k's lol. Just checked.

The problem though is they are cheap, but also built cheap. Back in the day you bought a TV and it was an investment that lasted for decades. Now you're lucky to get a decade out of it.
