Had the same issue and just used my fake name. Bryan Ludwig. How common is that? LOL

They never asked me for ID... Unless they did before I signed up, I'm surprised so many people complied -- then again people do it voluntarily on Facebook anyway.

For some reason it would not accept anything but a real name. I can't recall what I put but it eventually accepted it, but then it automatically signed me up for G+ without my consent. My profile still shows up as Red Squirrel though.

My channel is nothing really special just misc videos and stuff. Most of it gets flagged for copyright because most of it is just parodies or mashups etc.

Google Translate says Red Squirrel is røde egern in Danish. That sounds like a name, sort of.

I went full retard on my $1500 mirrorless camera. I was in a hurry and didn't believe the low battery warning, ran it down until the screen turned off, and it gave a "battery exhausted" message.

Then I went to take the battery out... without switching it off using the physical lever switch -- not the clicky electronic type. The camera usually makes some loud clicking sounds (parking shutter?) when turned off. Hope I didn't break anything -- battery's charging now so haven't checked -- and they designed it for idiots like me.

That's a 3rd world problem because 1st work people use electronic maps....

I agree. First-world would be my handheld $400 GPS ran out of batteries and I need to charge it, or I forgot to buy the map update so my GPS didn't show the new subdivision.

Electronic maps are great for seeing where you are and where you were. For seeing where you are going while you are going, nothing beats paper. I guess an iPad Pro might provide enough screen space.

Before gps on my phone, I made my own maps. I could fit hundreds of miles of travel on a PostIt note by removing needless bullshit.

On a side note, I find gps makes me lazy and unobservant. I'll get somewhere using gps, and have no idea how to get back since I wasn't cataloging landmarks on the way. I'm not sure I'm better off having it.

My favorite use of GPS is to use Waze to try to avoid delays caused by traffic, wrecks, construction, etc .... I drive 20 miles back home from work, and traffic is a friggin nightmare. GPS helps to mitigate some of the conditions that make that nightmare worse.

How's this for a first world problem:

Feeling less manly because I use Waze to circumvent traffic instead of using my own navigation skills.

I can see that happening with people using the routing function.

I blame 1990s and early 2000s video game maps for teaching me to only use maps for location finding -- new ones all give homing beacons/routes. When i drove regularly, I turned on the routing function <5% of the time. Otherwise, the GPS unit was zoomed out to show major streets only while driving.

I was collecting persimmons yesterday, and putting them in my vest pocket. I slipped on the bank, and squashed the persimmons in my pocket, so I ended up with a sticky mess :^(

I have to do a ton of video editing because an effing light used, I think, PWM to lower the brightness and it's showing up.

I forgot to pack a fork in my lunch, so I had to eat my taco salad with a spork I found in one of the drawers in our lunch room.
