Raining last night and raining this morning so it was a wet Christmas around here. At least the rain is gone for now because more rain is coming on Sunday from the weather guy.

I believe for the famicom version at least, Ascii outsourced parts from shenzhen taking electronics at the time just as was done for the NES Advantage. It's not really arcade hardware anyway and I don't think they ever sourced anything from Sanwa or Seimitsu that I know of...perhaps to save money they cloned parts. but likely you'll have to go with the blade terminals as a replacement.



I don't know much beyond microswitches. I never owned a console joystick, I just build my own and prefer the Sanwa joysticks and Happ buttons. I always mod my microswitches using black tape inside them so they don't make that clicking noise...easier and cheaper than buying silent switches which are hard to find.

Got my Seimitsu PS14D switches from FocusAttack.com today. After desoldering I did find more obscured markings and confirmed that they were Seimitsu (matching letters in a diamond shape). Other than the base piece with blade terminals instead of PCB leads they appear completely identical. Also, the parts in the joystick including the gate were more clearly labeled "Seimitsu."

The whole thing works great now. I still don't like that I have to practically remove my finger entirely from the button to disengage but that's how it was meant to be.

^^ I hope this is true. I used to hide in my room when the extended family piled into the house. My mom would eventually notice and make me come out. Taking the dog for a really long walk worked well. I would invite the cousins to come along knowing that outdoor activity was an alien concept to them.

Just re-painted the 1/2 bath in my house...the heather gray egg shell paint I got didn't match the swab (it was alot lighter) 🙁

Not sure if it was because I painted over a pretty light tannish brown color which may have lightened the paint. I had to go with a darker shade of gray (in semi-gloss finish) and it came out perfect...

On the positive side, I left the ceiling with the heather gray color which contrasts nicely with the darker shade I ended up with...

Also, the people who use it frequently don't understand the concept of the fill-to line. They frequently overfill and the water comes into contact with plastic parts at the top. Ya, I'm paranoid.

A $3.00 do it yourself bathtub faucet rebuild kit is going to cost me multiple hundreds of dollars. That's what happens when you think that the ball / lever is turning in the valve when trying to remove the nut. In actuality, the valve pipes are bending following the nut....finally, BREAKAGE! 🙁🙁🙁

Nice large hole now cut in the wall so that a plumber can replace the tub / shower valve and spout around noon tomorrow. Not brave enough to try to cut the lines and sweat a new one into the wall there.

I hope the plumber brings lube and goes in gently....

This should be a very happy time of year yet it's just one thing after another after another....I now know why people want to give up on life sometimes....but it's something that I don't want to know.

I sort of understand what you're saying but look at it this way. Every time you boil a whole pot, how much of that water do you actually use? You're probably boiling 4-6 cups and only using 1-1.5. So you just wasted electricity boiling the other 3-5 cups.

But even aside from that, each time you boil a pot you're either going from room temperature to boiling or very cold water to boiling. Whereas with the dispensing pot, you're heating the water once and then using a small amount of electricity to keep it at that temp. It's only really a problem if you want to keep the water much hotter than 195.

The way I compromised was to get a vacuum insulated pot. It holds heat well enough that you can unplug it and it will dispense water using its backup battery. So you can heat the water at home and then bring the pot somewhere.

As far as overfilling, that you can't really do anything about except trust the people who are using it and making sure they understand that max means max.

The top is a little warm and it's warmer around the vapor vent. In fact if you put a plate over it, you'll get some condensation, but not much. Not like the last one.

If you do decide to get another one, don't get Tiger. Get a Zojirushi.

That's what I did with my big laundry tub. I kinda regret that though, the new ones are so flimsy.

As far as my first world problem, I have the munchies but it's 2am. Everything is closed. We used to have a grocery store that was 24/7 but they recently changed to closing at 11. 11! At least make it till midnight. Not that it would help me in my current situation. I think there are gas stations that are opened till midnight though, but I don't want to pay $6 for a bag of chips.

I'm staying with my parents for part of my Christmas vacation. They now live out in the boonies in the U.P. of Michigan so they don't have cable. They have satellite instead which kinda looks good (for them anyway) on paper with about 12 Mbps down and maybe 1 Mbps or so up. But it's horribly sloooooow; you still have to pause 360p YouTube videos to let them buffer as much as possible. I think it's the upstream that's really killing it.

Anyway I'll be staying in a motel a couple days cause I gotta work Wednesday and Thursday. My experience with hotel wi-fi hasn't exactly been great but it'll have to be better than here cause I've tried logging into work from here and it's insanely slow; no way to work.

The sad thing is that someone probably would. They're both steel with a white coating like bathtubs. New ones seem to usually be plastic. That or a scrapper wouldn't mind an extra couple bucks.
