First one might be a first world triumph. I had a pouch of salmon, and I ripped the top off, got ready to eat it, and noticed light through the side of the pouch. There were holes in the pouch. Dunno if they went all the way through, but I tossed it. Might have saved me a couple days on the toilet.

Second one is I went to the farm to get eggs, and they raised the price to $3.50. It was $2.50 last time I got eggs last year. About the same price as cheap commodity eggs in the store, but *much* better.

Free range means nothing in the US. It's all marketing speak. I mean some places may use it honestly for what it implies, but not most.

Only pasture raised means anything.

5 bucks for generic free range eggs now here.

Wow that's still pretty cheap. The "free range" eggs from grocery store are around $9 here.

I get the 60-pack of Walmart-brand eggs. Historically they were $5. Shot up to $34 for awhile. Down to $11 now. Glad to see them more reasonable, but kind of feels like a ploy to double the price-long term & make us feel happy about it lol.

Woah that's a lot. I don't think I'd go through that many fast enough lol. Probably a very good deal if you do lot of baking or cooking that requires eggs though.

I do meal-prep for myself & for extended family (mostly elderly), so I go through a lot of eggs every week. $5 for a box of 60 was a steal! Eggs are awesome because I can make so many things with them:

1. Enriched breads (I do a lot of no-knead breads, which only take like 5 minutes of active hands-on time per day! I had no idea baking bread at home was so easy & nearly effortless!)
2. Homemade ice cream (the Ninja Creami is an amazing device!)
3. Egg bites (Starbucks-style)
4. Pastries & desserts (cakes, cookies, etc., I make a lot of frozen cookie dough balls that can be baked on parchment straight from frozen)
5. Meatloaf
6. Breakfast burritos

I don't necessarily eat 60 eggs a week (yo Gaston!), as much as do frozen meal-prep. Like, I recently got into mini cast-iron skillets. One of the things I make & freeze are cookie dough "pucks" that I can bake later right from the freezer, so I'll use a bunch of eggs for making different kinds of dough & batters for things like chocolate-chip cookies, oatmeal cookies, peanut butter cookies, brownies, cinnamon rolls, lava cakes, etc. Chili's charges $8.99 for a single skillet cookie in my area, so cheap eggs FTW!!

What? Only 800 bucks over four months? That's nothing! You should investigate further, there must be another category you can qualify to bring back more.

If you are talking about personal import exception, it just means you have to pay taxes to bring the over the limit stuff in .

from what i read on CBP, the entire amount is taxed, not the overage. and in my specific scenario, the tax rate is not 3% or 10%...it's 100% :(

What kinda stuff?
gifts for family, some clothing i got, and some warhammer stuff.

100%? WTF that makes no sense. I can see paying for sales tax since that is the lost revenue for the government but 100% duty is nuts.

ah, 301, it's not a blanket duty though, it's specific items.

ahh upon further reading, Section 301 is mostly aircraft parts and foodstuffs, and specific items of clothing. i should be in the clear and only subject to 3%. booya!

god this shit is such a pain to look up.

Been living in Gothenburg, Sweden, and I visited Abisko, Sweden; Lyon, France; and Copenhagen, Denmark. Gonna make a trip up to Stockholm on my last free weekend.

Public transit is awesome. The weather, not so much, hah. I basically arrived in the worst part of the year. But I've still gone out to explore, see hockey games, etc. Just mostly alone, which is a little bit of a bummer. I'm very much looking forward to having a life again when I get home.

Wife and I are having a minor tiff about whether or not to replace the secondary $800 beer fridge or to buy a $800 rug that would really tie our living room together.

We make $300K a year as a household.

Reminds me of Steve Jobs and his wife spending two weeks discussing before buying a washing machine!

I mean, buy the damn thing and if you don't like it, donate it! (I'm referring to them)
