If something is important enough they will throw out an update to older OS's.

I think you have to go look for them but someone is still updating Win7. Don't remember off hand who it is though.

A long-ago-root-canalled tooth broke and as I couldn't get to see a dentist during the lockdown it seems to have seriously worn down in the time since and I suspect now it's beyond saving and they'll have to extract what's left of it.

Finally back in action now. Some of my Citrix stuff loaded right back up so did not have to redo all that at least. Still a freaking pain though. At the end of the day at least I HAVE a job though.

F@#ing windows F$#@$#@ing updates. My work PC just got force rebooted. Pisses me off so much, freaking bullshit. No update is important enough to impact productivity. They always seem to time it with when I'm working too. I leave my PC on the whole time I'm off so they can reboot it all they want during that time, but nooooo they have to wait until I'm actually on shift. Pisses me off so much. I don't even know where the hell they're getting these updates from, Windows 7 is no longer supported.

Microsoft offers limited Windows 7 support for corporate accounts. I think it's called "Extended Security Updates" and is available for 3 years. (?)

I had no problem making appointment with a dentist. In fact, they were able to fit me in the very next day when I told them my filling fell off and it hurts like a bitch.

Rather stupidly, perhaps, I didn't say it hurt, because it actually doesn't, on account of being root-canalized (and so has no nerve). They only fixed it before just before the lockdown, and were very reluctant to see me that time, then they closed for the lockdown.
Quite possibly I should have claimed it hurt, and missed a trick there.

At the risk of having "did I mention I've had brain surgery" in every post, I would add in my defense that in any case I've been distracted on account of having brain surgery (apparently that was urgent enough that they told me to come in, lockdown notwithstanding, and operated within 24 hours of calling me).

The tooth seemed to get broken during the surgery, somehow, the repaired amalgam part was mysteriously missing when I came round. Come to think of it, now I'm wondering if I should worry where it went?

I was truly in pain, but yea I think being in pain will put you in front of the line. I called them the evening before since the filling came off while I was having dinner. They asked if I was in pain and when I said yes they gave me the first available appointment the next day without hesitation. I guess they know you'll pay anything to make that pain go away so it's big money maker for them.

I just got back within cell service after being out at sea for months with supremely slow ass internet (like 10x slower than 56k). Oh man 100 app updates? I have that many apps? I didn't even realize I downloaded that many. I used up over 2 GB just on app updates alone; some of which I had no choice to use so I can login to my financial accounts.

But boy did I not miss all the stupid social media drama that people fling around. I wonder why people care so much about statistically insignificant events as if the entire world is a tribe of 200 people? Just concentrate on your own being, and your own communities. We think too much in the macro when, and allow a community of billions where news reports of 0.000000000000000000000001% of all human interaction is affecting so many lives for no goddamn reason other than the drug drip to remain angry.

Jesus, hope all is well.Suddenly tooth loss becomes insignificant .

Lying to game a system is wrong.

Among other things, it can have effects from you preventing someone who is in pain from getting care, to their refusing to show urgency to people in pain because of liars.

I guess that's true. So perhaps a good thing I didn't think about it when they asked. Though I have no way of knowing if everyone else in the system is being truthful. I might be the only poor mug who isn't gaming it. Also I don't know that pain should be the only criteria - my worry is that by not having this dealt with immediately the tooth has suffered further damage that might have been avoidable.

Actually the tooth still bugs me. That and the new dent in my skull all adds together into confirming that I'm now an old geezer.

I want to lose a tooth about as much as I want a hole in the head. And I've already had that.

You can tell them that concern honestly and hope they give it the right priority. Common sense tells you some people have pain.

Electricity is still out from the storm. It will not be back on until next week.

Wow that could be interesting being that long without power. I guess it beats being in the direct path of the storm and not having a house anymore though. Good time to invest in a few solar panels and charge controller and inverter, at least to run the essentials. Probably near impossible to buy stuff like that though as it's probably sold out everywhere.

Power is something we take for granted, I've never really had an outage for longer than 4 hours. Even when we had that big black out years ago, it was only out for a good part of the day and came back by late evening if I recall. But the uncertainty made it a bit worse than it was as no one really know how long it could go for. It felt like it could be days.

I don't know why I am shopping 70-200mm lenses when I already have a decent 75-300 IS and I have not taken the camera out of the bag for at least 8 months. Bought a 77" carbon fibre tripod several weeks ago, again, no good reason.

Now I am shopping camera backpack...

Put our youngest grandson on the train this morning to send him back to CA.
After I got home, I found out I have to call the cops and report him for theft...little bastage stole our nice weather...rain predicted for tonight. :p

After having him here for a month, I'm kind of glad to send him home. Teenagers are work...

Well, it was not fun inside a hot house for sure. The whole block and other blocks were dark yet the other side of the street was fine. At least none of our houses were heavily damaged. We are thinking about getting a generator just for the fridge and a small window AC unit for a room in the house.

Just saw on TV what happened in the Lake Charles, LA area. Now that was bad. At least a few months or even years to be back to normal. Count our blessing I reckon.

Not to compare our situation with the hurricane affected areas, but the electric loop our house is on goes out fairly regularly...about 3 blocks of just our street...houses on the next street over are usually unaffected, houses farther down our street are usually unaffected.......fckng gremlins.
