FeuerFrei....nobody wants his stuff. Sad.Got struck by lightning last night. That's kind of problematic.
I felt the jolt of the lightning strike through my mouse hand. A loud POP. Room plunged into sudden darkness. The smell of fried electrical components tainted the air. Rain pounding outside.
Who knows how many appliances/devices are ruined. My pc is dead for sure. Could be facing total data loss - depends on the hard drive state. No power to the house. No water EVEN (pipe rupture?). No amenities. Camping now, basically.
Gofundme time?
Donate it to the salvation army store and get $100 receipt.Bought a broken monitor from Goodwill for $12 and can't find the receipt to return it. I was assured they tested everything, but the screen comes on for less than a second and then turns off no matter how many times you push the button. Like I don't have enough computer junk laying around.

I really think the house's wiring could be grounded to the water line, as you describe. Strike happened around 2 AM. We called the city water utility within an hour or so.Yikes that's scary. I would call city about no water though, the only way that can happen is the pipe is broken somewhere and it's probably undermining the ground. What probably happen is the lightning got shunted to ground through water pipe and it probably blew somewhere underground at a fitting or something.
Our central office got hit by lightening years back, they had to replace a whole whack of equipment. We had another central office hit a few years back. Both times it hit the GPS antenna. Those seem to like attracting lightning lol. My coworker was in the building when it got hit, he said he actually felt an odd static sensation, hairs started to go straight, and lights started to flicker, then he heard a loud bang, it sounded like a truck hitting the building. When he went out to check what happened, the GPS antenna was on the ground on fire and people were pointing and saying it got hit by lightening.
Around here there's a 5 day grace period for auto registration renewal. So you'd have till May 5 here.I've been procrastinating updating my license plate sticker with the mind set that May is still very far away... next thing you know, it's May and I still didn't do it.
I JUST did it today online but it will take a week or so before it comes in. Hopefully I don't get a ticket.

Jeez I think you take the cake on problems man. Hope you get everything back to normal soon!Recovering from last night's lightning strike.
The house's power was restored this evening. I've got a couple outdoor light fixtures that don't turn on, and a floor lamp. The DSL modem is dead. Wonder if its ac adapter fried, or what.
My pc miraculously booted like usual - but there's no video output. Sooo ... either the monitor or motherboard will need replacing. I'm using the onboard graphics - no discrete card.
More storms rumbling in the distance tonight - but radar shows them sliding by to the south. Really don't want a good soaking with that water line access hole still open. Hello, erosion.
