Woohoo... I'm getting 0.30/0.30 internet right now! Just reset my router so it's not on my end.

As someone who used to work tech support for ADSL, the problem is probably at your end, but we'll send you a new modem because we don't know what else it could be. :p

All of the computers I've built for like the last 6 months have had NVMe sticks. Just incredible. RIP platters, lol.

Platters are great for mass storage raid arrays where you don't want to worry about wear leveling, but for OS, SSD hands down. It boggles my mind that OEMs still sell computers with a platter drive by default... well I know why, it's because they can charge a premium for one with a SSD.

That said, I kinda want to make a raid array with SSDs, that would be sexy as hell. I'm sure you'd still get like 5-10 years out of it in a home environment. Imagine the raid 6 rebuild times you'd get on that, too. The VM performance would be awesome too.

Packers win. Fuck the Packers. I hate them.

Oh boy. The boys at work tomorrow are gonna be all panty bunched. I don't really have a favorite team but it would probably be the Packers if I had to choose (I'm a Yooper; most are Packer fans there since the culture is closer to upper Wisconsin/Green Bay than that of downstate/Lions).

My fucking issue is my goddamn laptop. It was a $200, or $250, refurb and has been fine, albeit a little slow, until the upgrades I got for it. The RAM works fine but Jesus Christ the SSD has been giving me issues (it had a regular old HDD in it). I got Windows 10 installed (after non-hardware issues, I guess) but now after it's powered down I just gets caught in a boot loop when you start it next with the blue Windows icon showing and sometimes a "Accessing automatic repair" message (or something like that). I guess it's the SSD so I'm returning it to Amazon. I was about to get a different SSD but thought "Why the fuck am I gonna throw more money at this fucker?" It would be waste, I think, when I can get a brand new laptop (touchscreen 15.6", 6GB RAM, 1 TB HDD) for $300 (or thereabouts, Slickdeals rules). Fuckin thing. I'll just make do and buy a new laptop next year or something.

Holy fuck! They overran the allotted time for Sherlock and I missed the last minute or so. Maybe even the last few seconds but they were important. And PBS doesn't rerun their shit. Fffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff...

Edit: Okay, PBS does do a rerun, but it's next Saturday.

But not like Showcase. Showcase will rerun the same show or movie like 4 times before the day is over. I've seen every episode of Outlander 2 or 3 times thanks to that...

Edit: And I think a family member may have caught the Zika virus while in the Caribbean recently and carried it back here. This is the same person who went to Turkey a couple years ago...

I have to decide between two fantastic, interesting jobs. I feel the same about both cities and the pay will be approximately the same. Both are stable. It's a weird feeling.

The huge swings in temperature are giving me a headache. Or it could be a tumor but its probably the weather

Watch the concert on YouTube in vertical cell phone format! You get extra load, probably clipping screaming by the crowd and incredibly compressed music! Double win!!!!

Forgot... My alarm clock this morning was a sidewalk being jackhammered. It's the middle of winter. Someone's pipes better have burst bad.

And I let my mouth spew too much earlier. Craigslisted something then I told the person I could give him some free shit I don't need/want. The problem? I gotta pay for the transit to meet him. Fail. Shut your fucking mouth next time!

Glad we don't do emergency cable locate dispatch anymore, I'm sure the water main breaks are going to start here. That also means constant highway closures. I tend to avoid the highway because of that, don't know from one day to the next if it's going to be open.

About 2 weeks ago I set a price trigger on a projector I was following on Amazon. It normally runs $750 and was on sale for $650 after Christmas. Put in a price alert to email me when it hits that price again.

2 weeks go by and nothing. Yesterday morning inventory opens up on Benq refurb site for $636. So I snag it. $636 shipped. Last night I get an email trigger that a brand new one is on sale for $629 on Amazon w/ free prime shipping. It's not worth it to ship the refurb back. Amazon charges tax plus I'd have to pay shipping back for the one I bought. Would end up costing $20+ for the new one. But that email came 8 hours after I bought it after waiting several weeks for the price to trigger. *SHAKES FIST*
