UPS went out, shutting down a 7 day long render.

Ouch that sucks.

My UPS failed me last time I was doing power work in my electrical panel. Took out the most important server, the file server. I still don't get what happened there. The UPS kicked on fine, all the other servers were ok, but the file server rebooted. I had previously screwed up a command as root rendering the system in a very low likelihood of booting if it got rebooted, so I knew never to reboot that box, ever. Needless to say, I was right. It would not boot. I got lucky with that one, a grub reinstall fixed it.

I really need to setup a 48v dual conversion ups though. I never been a fan of the standby mode, you have to count on the relay tripping fast enough. With a dual conversion setup you have everything running off the inverter/batteries all the time, and a set of rectifiers that keeps the batteries floating. Its what the telcos do.

Can you share a sample of the end product?
Proper lighting is what makes the render take so long. Here's one with quick lighting.

Got the mcdouble and small fry for $2.50 deal but when I asked to put big mac sauce on the mcdouble she charged me $.30 more for it. I'm used to them giving it to me for free. :(

I gotta read headlines today about how Inferno bombed at the box office but checking Box Office Mojo, it's already cleared over $100 million overseas. Not a huge success but not a bomb.

When you make less than half of your predecessor and cost 75m++ to make, that's pretty much a bomb.

The cheapassery here is astounding. Bravo.

I missed a college hockey game Friday because Frontier wasn't giving me a channel I was supposed to have in my bundle. They said they were going to send a tech Wednesday because they couldn't fix it remotely (wtf?)

I can't wait to switch back to Directv.

Is this actually a 1st world problem?

I was wondering what GP stood for. Then you said, "riding my ass" and I thought Gay Partner (not that there's anything wrong with that). Good thing I Googled it! :D

Been feeling like hell for a few days, got stuck in a meeting late at work, took much longer to get home than normal, and upon getting home I find a nice $80 traffic violation in my mailbox thanks to the fucking cameras posted at every corner here. They're claiming I didn't stop and then turn right. The picture they have of my car shows a completely empty road. I'm disputing. Time for a drink.

Hit my hand with a hammer AGAIN. That's like the third time in two weeks. My hands are torn up between hitting them, ripping them on briars, and cold weather cracking. Washing them nearly brings tsars to my eyes.

Ouch that sucks. I'm surprised that I managed to frame my own basement without smashing my fingers. I sucked at first, kept missing the nails. Got good with time. :p I *could* have gotten a nail gun. But did it all with hammer and nails.

Here in Arlington we voted to do away with the red light running cameras. I hated them. It's not like I purposely run red lights. Sometimes you just get caught at speed when the light changes. Not to mention you are arguing with a machine. Anyways, it's not for safety. It's a revenue generator. Should be unconstitutional to not be able to confront your accuser. If a police officer pulled you over you may be able to get off with a warning if you admit you could have made a mistake. Who wants big brother? Not me.

Nail guide, yo.

https://www.amazon.com/Home-X®-Guide-Position-Keeps-Fingers/dp/B011CLA3WK/

One came with an Ikea drawer I got in the past year. Best thing ever. It's a cheap piece of plastic so probably won't last.
This is my hammer...

wvEhft.jpg

I was driving the plug out of the end of a maul with a piece of rebar so I could put on a new handle. Doesn't excuse hitting myself though. I don't know what my problem's been lately. There aren't too many people that have swung a hammer more than me. I guess this is what getting old and feeble feels like. Ineptitude just slowly creeps in D^:

I agree. The letter is also skewed in the form of, unless you read the fine print it makes it look like you can't even dispute it. Here on Long Island, the school zone and 'random' speed cameras were taken away due to general public complaints. People went above and beyond to dismantle these things. Finally they got rid of them. A guy I work with got a right on red from the camera in a major snowstorm where he would be putting more at risk by slamming the brakes on and sliding out into the intersection vs. slowly running the yellow->red. It's a complete scam.

Problem found. The end of the handle is rounded off. Beaver attack?
I cut it down to 1.5' to use one handed. I thought about having a handle custom made to keep the deer foot, but I'm not sure that would work. I drive a lot of nails, and I think the curve would put my knuckles too close to the ground. Reverse the curve, and it would throw out the head alignment.
