People in poorer countries think its ridiculous that we have such an excess of calories and need to pay money to go to a special, designated place and do meaningless activities just to burn them off.

I set my sous vide to 135 and 1.5 hours, so my 3lb tri tip came out rare--I wanted it medium.



Now, I have to eat those leftovers today.

adding to this: the butter/cilantro/shallot dressing that I made for the Tri Tip had hardened a bit after a day in the fridge, so I had to jab at it with a spoon to get a decent amount out so that it could melt on the re-warmed beef.

the jabbing caused my mixing bowl to tip over, and some sauce shards hit the kitchen floor. I had to spend extra time cleaning the floor.

That's quite an expensive pistol. Last I checked, no one cares what you shoot at the outdoor ranges.

My wife and I are getting two separate paid trips to California to receive gifts for our upcoming child, but her parents don't have HBO so we'll miss two (non-consecutive) episodes of Game of Thrones and will have to avoid the internet until we can catch up.

They have monstrously slow DSL. Also, I believe we may be traveling on Sunday night both trips so that I can get back to work on Monday since we have to save our vacation days thanks to this country not requiring employers to offer paternity leave.

I get free Internet service and cable TV (all channels) from my employer (a small, local-only cableco). HBO GO doesn't yet support smaller cable companies.

I can't visit Best Buy without being stopped by 5 different employees trying to sell me satellite TV service.
