Background: I have never used windows file sharing. I use local accounts without a password.

Last night I was trying to move files from my spare PC to my Steam Deck. I set up a file to share and could see it on my Steam Deck but it wouldn't accept a black password. Creating a password fixed this issue but it took me about 90 minutes to find the fix. In advanced network settings - advanced sharing settings - All Networks I see an option for password protected sharing that is on. I figure that setting was the culprit wasting my time.

Oh my Gawd...it was horrible! We got some mediocre rain this morning...not uncommon for here. I had to go into the laundry room...just in time to see the rain gutter overflowing! I cleaned the damned things in October. No reason they should have been clogged.
Dragged out the ladder and cleaning tools...only to find a clog of pine needles. I don't have any pine trees. I DO have a spruce tree behind my house...but totally different needles. As far as I can tell, these blew in from a couple of houses away. :colbert: While I was at it, I noticed the second story downspout seemed...wonky, so I climbed up onto the first story roof where I could see into that gutter. Sure enough, another damned pine needle dam. I can't get to the downspout for that gutter. (roof pitches and distance) so I duct-taped my "webster" spider web cleaner onto a couple of pieces of PVC and cleaned it with that. Not perfect, but it's draining fine for now.
I hate working outside in the rain...especially on a ladder and roof. :shudder:

Sometimes I miss the simpler days of WIndows 98, stuff like this was so much easier. It was also less secure though. :p

My ASUS Rog Azoth keyboard started double typing on some keys. After a lot of research I found out it is a hardware issue and you can take the keyboard apart and fix it. But fuck that, I just got it last October so I chatted up Asus support. So they will send me a replacement, and put a hold of $250 on my account, which they will then release if they don't get my defective keyboard back within two weeks. But I have to wait two days for the higher level support to email me and set that up. Fucking annoying.

I'm going to have to pop out all the keys from the one I have and put them on the new one, and then switch; I put on a HyperX pudding cap set, plus numerous other special keycaps for certain keys, custom from Etsy (space bar, enter, shift, and ESC keys) plus also textured WASD of course. What a pain in my arse. But goddamn does this keyboard feel so good and the extra features are great and programmable, like multimedia controls.

It took me 45 minutes today to change a ceiling light, because I am my own worst problem. I had my guy come the other week and switch three of my four single ceiling lights to a Govee Smart Light since I needed him here for a plumbing issue. He was nearby so it was super easy that day. But I only had three new ceiling lights in my possession.

I got a fourth one to replace the final one and figured I'd just do it myself and save the money. I kinda know the gist of it and after watching him do them, I figured easy peasy. Well, I watched him from afar and what got me was the stuff I needed to see up close. The wire coming from the Govee lights was very flimsy so was a bitch to keep on the stiff wires coming out of the ceiling - and I didn't screw in the caps hard enough. And of course, once I figured it out well, I had put in the plastic mount piece upside down, because I am an absentminded nerd idiot sometims.

But anyway, I finished it, and no sparks flew, so I am now chilling in all rooms with lovely 3K kelvin temp light. Gonna pick up some Govee smart cans to do the five cans I have in this place and then I'll be done.

I bought a bending brake and it says the plate has to be clamped down. It isn't kidding. Four clamps and it still slid a little on the bend. I need to get some super strong ones, I guess.

Women changing their names when they get married makes cyber-stalking so difficult. I'm trying to track down a locally famous musician from the early 1900s and she simply vanishes from all records in 1931. No death notice, no marriage announcement, just gone. I'm trying to see if she ever recorded.
