I got some Xrays on a cd that required a windows program(included on the cd) to view them. The program ran fine in wine, but it was a super annoying format to simply view images. I do have a cd drive though, cause my computer's an ancient dell workstation.

The files are probably jpegs with a custom extension. Try opening in a text editor to determine file type.

Dunno. This is what I have...

Code:
tuxj@debian:~/Documents/health/stomach/xrays$ ls -R
.:
autorun.inf DICOM IQ.dll K-PACS_Getting_Started.pdf
custom.ini DICOMDIR K-PACS_CD_Readme.doc K-Pacs-Lite.exe
dcmtkdll.dll dicomdll.dll K-PACS_CD_Readme.rtf windows.txt

./DICOM:
F0001 F0002 F0003 F0004 F0005 F0006

Renaming "F0001" didn't give anything interesting. A text editor displays some of the text comments with lots of gibberish. No clue to my eyes as to what it really is.

It isn't that important. It's just a minor annoyance, but I highly dislike the assumption everyone runs windows, and requiring proprietary software is unethical.

I'll pick it up next week at Costco but wtf is up with our health professions these days? CD's - no cloud links, faxes - no emails. Oy.
You think this is the worrisome thing? Wish you knew how updated they are on medical advancements and things they shouldn't be doing (like taking out appendices when antibiotics may do just fine).

It's still an issue. It takes two weeks to get a CD in the mail vs just getting a link to download your files. And a shit ton of people don't even have an optical drive once you get it. It's ridiculous. They treat healthcare with how much turnover they can get done in a day - patients are like cattle they need to herd as many as they can through a turnstile each day to print the bucks. American medicine is also about how many pills they can get you to pop, and other bullshit. I'm not even talking about insurance yet.,

It's almost the same everywhere, unfortunately. I have had very rare sessions with docs who were not in a hurry to get rid of me.

I just spent 2 days on a simple (or so I thought before I started) task of fishing wire. This one location was a hell of a hard one but once the hole was made I kind of had to commit.. Adding a soffit outlet for the Christmas garlands as it's always a pain feeding power to those and this is just one of those things I've been wanting to do for a long time. There was a beam that was in the way which made it hard to do anything. Fish tape was not usable as it was too far of a distance and it would get caught up in various beams etc. I was successful in using 1/2" conduit as fish tape with a 90 at the end from the other end, since it is more rigid than fish tape but still has some flex. Spent a good day fishing that as it was difficult to reach it or do anything with it even once I could see it. Was able to get a pull string in but BX wire is just too hard to pull through conduit as it's not really meant to be in conduit so that failed, just couldn't get it to go through the 90. The only purpose of the conduit in this case was to aid in fishing the wire. In hindsight I should have just duct taped the wire to the conduit then pull the conduit back out, and cut it in sections as it comes out (no room to pull in one shot, I was gluing sections as I pushed it in). I didn't want to "waste" conduit that way but it would have saved me a day of aggravation and those shorter ends would have ended up being useful throughout the project. But ended up scapping the conduit idea and moved that over to the security camera which is going in that general area.

Decided the next attempt would be to use 1x2 wood planks to try to feed a pull string to the other end and hopefully have it drop over the beam so I can reach it., I managed to do it after much struggling. I was basically connecting multiple together and feeding them through. I ended up making the outlet hole bigger while ensuring it's still smaller than the plate that will go on, so I can put my whole arm through and grab the string, tied cable and was able to pull it. Half way through, the string snapped! FFS!

Since I was getting somewhere with this idea I ended up just repeating everything I had just did again, and it finally worked! Oh man, what a pain this pull was though.

This picture turned out pretty crap and I don't feel like going back to take another with DSLR but gives a general idea of where the run is going. I cut an opening into the top (attic) part to see inside the top of the soffit area to feed from there. That top area on garage side will be full of insulation once I'm done and there will be drywall on the ceiling below so need to do all this now.

After all this I ended up ending the project for today. At least I know Friday when I continue on this I'll be starting off at a good spot. Tomorrow going to check up on my off grid land since I have not been yet this year, so it will be a bit of a break from this project. The road should be accessible now.

This was yesterday, I had to go pick something up, I know I could have gotten a ride but decided to take my electric scooter. It's about 13 miles so it's a decent trek. But I like crusing around, well about a block away it started to rain, I never check the weather because it barely ever rains here. I grab the shit and as I'm about to head back, it starts to hail. And it starts to pour. The way back there's a bridge with no bike lane, it's pretty narrow and the cars are driving like it's fucking completly dry. It's hailing, pouring, thunder and lightening and cars are zipping by me. I had my lights on, but it's an electric scooter and cars don't even see other cars all the time so I thought for sure an accident would happen. About a mile later a strap on my favorite backpack ripped. I was just sitting waiting for a green light, so I had to ride about 11 miles with the hopes the other strap would hold up.

Riding in hail fuckin sucks. Thankfully, I had my helmet on. And the cherry on top of my shit shake I went to 7-11 right now to get their 2 slices of pizza and a Pepsi product for $4.99 and it's no longer :| It was bad enough when they switched the deal from Coke to Pepsi products. And now it would be like $7.50. Not much more, but $4.99 sounds a lot better, and it's not really good enough pizza to pay full price.

No idea what you wrote up there, you construction/carpenting fanatic but I have a question regarding your offgrid property. What weapons are you going to deploy there in preparation for the zombie apocalypse?

At some point I actually want some form of rover I can control remotely. If I get thieves I'm going for their car in hopes they freak out and GTFO. I'm thinking a remotely operated skid steer would be fun but that's a bit of an ambitious and expensive project so it would probably just be some sort of basic RC vehicle to start putting dents in their vehicle or something. Or at very least get faces and plate number to send to the police. Police and the justice system don't really do much for theft though so only way to really stop it is to do it myself.

I don't have any long term plan to protect from any sort of attack like zombies or just bad people in general, but it's something I'll look into once I live there. Guns are iffy here, you get in huge trouble if you use one for self defense. Really, self defense in general gets you in lot of trouble here. So need methods that basically make it look like an accident. I'm not that worried about trouble that far out though, most of the crime is happening in the city and some in rural areas but it's mostly downtown really.

If crime does make it's way out that far then I'll start to look into it more seriously. I'll want to invest in a good excavator too. ;)

I watch a lot of YouTube, often in the background while I'm doing other things. One of my favorite's NileRed, has I think completed his transformation from interesting chemistry into just brain-dead slop. It gets him paid though.

So...buy a decent excavator...bury the bodies of the thieves.

Bought a 1.5TB sd card. Can't get it to work. Don't know if it's the device it's in (it's not a standard kind of device), or if the card is fake (was direct from Amazon, which is usually safe). Fully testing one this size with h2testw will take 20 hours at least. The alternative card that I ordered (that I could use to confirm if it's the device or the card) has been "delayed" with the courier and now won't arrive for days.

Update - tested the card with h2testw (took 25 hours!) and it's apparently perfectly OK. Swapped cards around between what should be identical devices (modded music players) and now everything works fine. Seems to have been some weird incompatibility between different permutations of components (that were supposedly identical). New FWP though - other card I ordered from Amazon took so long to arrive that I ordered a replacement, then both arrived on the same day. Don't know about sending one back as the one I'd, on reflection, rather return, is now in use and far too much bother to remove again.

I think the higher the card capacity, the more chance there is for weirdness. 1tb is when things start getting weird. Not sure why, or who to blame. If it isn't a standard spec with the ability to use arbitrary capacities in any device, the spec's broken.

Yesterday after getting some bloodwork done I decided to run to wallyworld to check out their fishing supplies. Finally got my baitcaster and so I wanted to get new line and new supplies. It was pretty early in the morning and the place was pretty empty. Walked through the store and got to the back corner where they keep all the gear and the crap was locked up! I'd say about 95% of the gear was behind glass doors and anything I wanted I'd have to have an employee unlock and grab them. F that noise. I went to Big 5 and bought a bunch of stuff. Paid a little more, but I was able to take my time and shop without an employee hovering around me waiting.

So the temporary shelter I setup on my off grid property was very temporary. It didn't survive the winter. Thankfully I didn't have anything super critical in there, and I had a bad feeling it wouldn't survive, but still had hopes!

The 1x4 I used as reinforcements failed at the joints. Should have tried to get 2x4's in there but it was kinda tight to get it where I wanted which is why I went with the 1x4 but 1x lumber is all small pieces finger jointed together.

Going to build a shed this year anyway, was just hoping this would have lasted until that. I'm thinking of starting with a smaller one now so I can get it done faster. Probably going to just put it right in that spot but build it in a way that I can move it in the future.

Had to go to Baltimore today for the checkup on my finger. I can't stand driving in the city anyway, and I was driving my boss' girlfriend's truck, which I'm not familiar with. My anxiety was at 11. Finger's still fucked, but it hasn't died. Bones still aren't knitting together great, and it's still swollen and doesn't really move at the upper joints. Traded my splint for some elastic bands to bind it to my ring finger...
