I had to take apart and “reset” the auto start mechanism on my record player because it stopped working right. It took me ten whole minutes and I had to watch a YouTube video.

I still prefer analog LP to digital, used to spend hours tweaking the stylus, but downsizing our residence ended that option. First world problems.

Four people on my project team have write access to a critical system. All four are out for various reasons. Now I'm scrambling to get access to the system, which I haven't touched in eighteen years. Should be fun. I wonder what is supposed to go in this field? This is one of those systems I bitched about that has poor input scrubbing so entering an unacceptable character crashes the system. :p

LP is very much third world.
The third world uses outdated and inferior technology because they have to.

I use outdated and inferior technology because it "sounds warmer" or some other bullshit that lets me feel superior to you. We are not the same. :p

(It's 110% nostalgia, nothing else.)

I grew up in an electronics mid tier distributor/retailer.

There's only 1.5 things I miss about vinyl. Nice big album art to look at(1), and being more or less forced to hear every song on an album side(0.5). That last one is a mixed blessing. Sometimes you get to hear pretty good songs you wouldn't listen to if you were given track by track choice. Other times, you have to listen to bullshit to get to the good songs, or dick around with the turntable to skip ahead. I've missed vinyl about 0.25 times in the last 30 years.

Been buying multiple similar items on Ebay recently (non-standard kinds of batteries) and am not at all sure all of them actually arrived, plus some failed very quickly - but can't work out which items came from which seller. Totally lost track of what arrived and from who, so can't really complain to the sellers about them being faulty or failing to arrive. Really not helped by the lack of identifying information on/in packages when they arrive.

I took my car to walmart auto last week and got TPMS sensors installed.. what was supposed to take 1 hour took 5 hours and the manager felt so bad.. he didn't charge me.

I was like great but I'm usually cautious of free and ofcourse the error light came on.. and they didn't program it correctly. So I ordered the TPMS reset tool as recommended and shipment keeps getting delayed. Ugh.

So the Pixel 9 pro that was supposed to arrive yesterday, but got delayed, due to not enough room on the goddamn plane (I was told that as well as others). Today it was supposed to arrive, but apparently they changed my local depot from one town to another nearby town in late July, and software hasn't been updated with some vendors, in this case, Google, so it's still routing to the original depot. Also their UPS MyChoice website stuff was totally glitching, the phone people didn't know shit, but it took a quick ten minute drive to my original depot to get this info from a nice man at the customer care desk.

he could not get the package for me as it was already loaded onto a trailer to go to the other depot. let's hope I'm home tomorrow to sign for it. Fuckin a. Why couldn't this just happen with any other random ups delivery, why the phone? I have all the time tonight watching football to set it up, and now I might not get it before the weekend. THIS IS SERIOUS SHIT!

FUCK MY LIFE!

Had to create an account so I could learn a new cloud based addressing system. Went through the usual entering in my email, confirming it, creating a pw, confirming it, entering my name etc. Hit submit and takes me back to the login page. I try logging in entering my user ID and pw, no dice. Do it a few more times, still no dice. By this time I'm getting pissed trying to figure out wth is going on. I shamefully have to email support saying I know I just created this account, but for some reason I can't log in. Support contacts me, remotes in and has me enter in my credentials. I enter in my email and start to type in my pw when he/she interrupts me. He/she says my email is not my user ID and that my user ID was automatically created when I setup my acct. First Name_Last Name. "You should've seen this when I was entering my info" . No I didn't see it MFer! Tried again and was able to log in. Feel stupid...

I was playing around on my phone, and installed a program that downloads books from gutenberg, and lets you read them in-app

Problem is I don't know where it downloads the files to! That annoys the shit out of me. It isn't something I *must* know, but I don't like stray files cluttering my file system. I looked in the typical locations, but I can't find the test book I downloaded. Can't find a wiki or anything on github. I'll play around with it for awhile, but that kind of thing gets me to uninstall programs. Otherwise, it seems like a pretty decent program. It's convenient having everything in one place for browsing/reading.

My area seems to get lot of power outages in summer as everything is overhead too and there's lot of trees, this year was not too bad though, only had like 3-4 of them. They tend to only last a few hours, so didn't affect any of my stuff as solar was able to keep up. It even happened on a day I was working from home, lot of my coworkers dropped out and I was able to stick around for rest of shift so boss appreciated that one.

I finally got around to installing a generator plug on my shed a week ago too, and it's wired in to my solar system, so if we get an extended outage I can transfer the solar electrical panel to generator if solar is not keeping up or it's night time.

I hate that too, also makes it harder to backup if you don't know where the files are. I always like being able to backup stuff properly and know that I can restore it.

Two keycaps from my keyboard are missing. They're just gone. I'm wondering if mice stole them. No idea why they would, but I have no other plausible explanation.

Yea, it's pretty dirty. I work in dirt and there's a constant supply of dust in everything. I did a full teardown and clean less than a year ago. Ended up more trouble than it was worth.

I decided last Friday I'd buy a fancy new iPad Pro from Verizon, being 'Merican I couldn't wait until Tuesday to have it shipped. I looked up what I could or in store pickup, all any stores carry are the 256GB version. I wanted a 512GB, but hate waiting so I used a coin flip app to decide for me. 3 heads I'd order the 256 and go pick it up, 3 tails I'd order the 512 and wait. I got 3 heads, so be it. Now I have a cutting edge iPad Pro with a damn near 3rd world country peasant amount of storage.
