[That's the excuse all the muscians use, lol! Pot also impairs motor skills. Its the alcohol equivalent of saying "I drive better when drunk." Its only a perception that you have because you're high. Really, I thought the same thing when I played guitar. Its not true, but if you think it is, because your perception is a bit altered when high, well then you will be a believer. >>
I'd still have to disagree with you there, because I do record my playing on occasion. I'll have set up a little experiment with some impartial listeners to see which recordings they think are better.
Admittedly, music is experienced differently whilst high, which I would have to say is the reason for the difference. The same way you can listen to the same song mixed by different DJs, and experience it differently as a result. If you were to try to play a solo over the aforementioned hypothetical songs, they would most likely turn out differently, thanks to different beats/phrasings/what-have-you's.
Anyway, that's my current opinion, and I'm sticking to it until it changes.
