Not being able to filter out 'business' listings from 'regular joe' listings is a pet peeve, as are rediculous s&h fees.

It annoys me having to wade through a ton of listings for the same items from the same seller to get to a couple of items listed by regular (non-business) auctions.

Business listings are not inherently bad, but they never list real auctions (BIN, high starting or reserve amounts etc). No good hot deals to be had anymore.

Huh? If an item does not sell, you do not have to pay the listing fees

They should make an ebaypersonal.com and an ebaycompany.com But in order for that to work they would have to monitor, enforce, and regulate the auctions which, judging by the outrageous shipping costs they don't do already; I doubt they'll do it in the future.

Because of that, there isn't much of a savings. So many businesses are scared of actually listing an auction. There's no point anymore.

Near the top you can select "All Items", "Buy It Now" or "Auction Items" to eliminate much of the junk.

What I hate about eBay is how EVERYONE wants to pay with PayPal but they'll get pissed if you try to offset the fees. Use a money order!!! It's like 3 extra days, big deal. I mean it takes PayPal 3-5 days to get the funds into one's bank account anyway. And I also *HATEEE* how listing an item with a starting price above like $9.99 gets STUPIDLY expensive.

With that said, I love eBay. Been selling my useless crap on there since 1999 and making great spare cash.

And you think there's a lot of garbage out there now?? Wait to you see what the auto-posting companies do with an unlimited listing and free image hosting option... Not sure there'd be enough bandwidth in California to accomodate just the posting of items. And it sure wouldn't be $3 to $5 per month...

You can't charge extra for accepting paypal... It's against their TOS, has to do with the laws against charging extra for credit cards.

^ I realize this! And it SUCKS! We should be able to charge for the "convience" just like PayPal charges us.

The reason may be that if an item also has a BIN price that you think someone MIGHT go for but the opening bid is low, and there's no reserve, you can bid on it to remove the BIN option...

The problem is if the buyer uses their credit card to pay paypal, they can run into legal issues with it. Remember Paypal was investigated a while back, they have to comply with every little silly law that may or may not really be applicable to them.

Even if it's paid for with a checking account, it's often backed up by a credit card. So they might not even know right away that it may fall back on to the CC.

It all comes down to people. And there's really no solution because there's just too many people in the world that are either morons or just aren't getting it. If you didn't have to involve people, Ebay would be awesome....except there would be no one to buy or sell anything on there :)

My personal pet peeves are:
People who don't understand the proxy bidding system and then whine about snipers and the like.
People who get mad when I won't ship to their non-verified paypal address.
People who try to pay with credit card paypal when I specified bank-funded only in the auction.
People who ask you to end the auction early and sell to them for a fixed price.
People who try to haggle with you on your already reasonable shipping prices...

Notice a pattern?

isnt that what proxy bidding is for? I thought you could enter in a maximum bid and walk away, and eBay would only bid up to your maximum, and would only go as high as needed to be the top bidder.

ah but I like to be there to be able to bid late in the game. I don't want to bid too high and then have someone keep raising the cost if there are similar Items out there that might be cheaper

ebay takes no responsibility for quality control. all other businesses at least fake it and pretend to give 2 sh!ts about their customers, ebay doesn't even pretend to care what happens to buyers/sellers that get ripped off

fraud is so rampant on ebay, i have no idea why anyone is using it anymore. it is worse than selling laptops to people in nigeria that are paying with western union

This is annoying... if you have time to list an item or bid on an item, you have the time to answer e-mails.
