Equivalent performance to a Core2Quad @ 2.5-3.0Ghz, in a 6-10W TDP envelope. My next mini-PC!

That sounds good. So 100% improvement? I'll second that. :D

Probably not gonna happen until 2021-2026ish I think.

I have no idea why you think it will take that long. The 7500U already looks to perform about 10-15% faster than a 3.0 GHz Q9650 in cinebench r11.5 and r15 and its a 15 watt chip.

If they can't put out a 10 watt or less kaby lake that can perform 80% of the way there, I imagine next generation will make it happen.

just one thing i would want: SOLDER THE MOTH@#$&*#ING IHS TO THE CPU DIE!
i want my cpu to run at 55C max load+OC with a beefy air cooler like the one i have (Noctua C14)

3x performance over I7-870

I only upgrade CPUs when I can get a 300% performance uplift.

- Nice. I used to have a 2x policy and have somewhat achieved it uptill now (latest core2quad -> haswell), however with moore's recent passing I think ill reevaluate that strategy to something like 1.5x -> which points to ~coffeelake for me.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the Core U / Core M line-up. My last Atom was an N2600 also so I haven't tested any Baytrail or Braswell ones yet, I'm still in a "avoiding Windows 8/10 completely phase" so kind of out of the loop with the new netbook / low power stuff the last few years haha.

Don't know, just upgraded, so not much interested. But definitely a hexa core CPU, with maybe 30-35% performance improvement over 6800K or something and even less power consumption, something like that.
