If there's a Pro-Android thread, there's a Quebert post shitting on it. Forum law.

Used to be a zen0 but I think he got slapped with a warning and ban stick too many times and he got the hint?

The clock on the notification bar is too small to read at a glance. Plus, the widget is words, which fits better with my battery widget (which is also too small to read in the notification bar, at a glance.

this. I'd get rid of the clock in the notification, but I don't really want to root (and have an EVO 3D). Not yet anyway. I use simi clock so I get the full date as well.

I'll root if I can get simi clock onto my lockscreen while still maintaining the sense weather lockscreen, heh.

The reality is the iPhone's actually easier to mod.

I need to know how to get something like this on an iPhone-

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVU84J1ShSQ&feature=player_embedded

Steps to mod to this on Android-

1)Turn on phone
2)Launch Market
3)Install app

If you could just point me to where I can completely overhaul the iPhone's UI that easily it would be enormously appreciated. I reccomeded an iPhone to my mother and she thinks it is lousy compared to the Android devices, although with something along the lines of better then horrid UI and a proper app drawer/"Start Menu" or whatever you want to call it and fully featured widgets she wouldn't be giving me grief about it still. Could you just point me to the app on Apple's App store where I can modify the iPhone just as easily it would be hugely appreciated. I think if I could just get the phone in a functional state as far as the default UI is concerned it would make her happy.

I'm not an idiot at doing these things

Gingerbreak. Even on the horribly locked down Moto devices, it's very, very easy.

What program for Android can give me the level of control either apps I mentioned do?

No single program- Android is more raw capitalism than the centrally planned iOS world. The equivalent to Dreamboard is T-Mobile's Theme Switcher, hundreds of widgets from the market, and alternative launchers. All together they bring in WAY more options than Dreamboard.

If you know how to code, sure the sky's the limit but that's going to make up a whole fraction of a present of the Android user base.

Actually many Android users change the OS to change the theme, hence my original point. Many many ROMs are basically theme tweaks or launcher tweaks. Modifying a ROM doesn't usually require programing skills, just winzip.

And seeing how Dreamboard adds widget support to iOS, if you know how to code the advantage of Android's probably not as great as most would think.

Can Dreamboard make iOS's status bar come down to the bottom? Because I can do that with a checkbox in community Android. Can Dreamboard change the DPI of the OS? Because I can easily do that in Android.

I could go on and on, but the point stands- Dreamboard and the like is only as powerful as the prepackaged options that come with them. With Android the sky is the limit. You can argue that one is easier than not, but you can't argue that Android is less "powerful" in its theming options.

I totally agree android has more customization options than iOS. However, lockinfo can do exactly what you state.

I've been up in Montana - where internet service is not abundant - and so I missed a lot of this. Please keep the content on topic - no more iPhone screenshots, Quebert, et.al. As I think Spoon put it let's see more Android screenshots and discussions of how people got those themes working.

Thank you

2 home screens (of 7) on my Verizon Droid X, stock Gingerbread with Moto Blur. Using Beautiful Widgets and SmartShortcuts.

To me, all the arguing over which is better is useless. My wife has an iPhone 4 and I like it, but it just reminds me too much of my iPod Touch, so I find it nothing all that special- certainly not the 'greatest thing ever made' as some make it out to be.

Meanwhile, I prefer Android on my phone for customizing endlessly and making the PDA experience exactly what I want. And if the current active layout doesn't do it for me, I can just swap out another of 3 profiles for a completely different look and feel with a single button press.

I like how someone said ( here or elsewhere, I forget) to the effect iOS is for the out of the box crowd and Android is more for the power user that is never satisfied with stock/OOB. Basically, I agree with that.

Nothing too special - Running Virtuous 2.0.0 on an HTC Desire Z. Only modifications I made were to the status bar icons, and I replaced the personalize button on the dock with one that launches the web browser.

I'm a sucker for the sense widgets :(

As of last week:
Mine looks almost exactly like this. Except I killed the search bar widget (cuz of the search button on the bottom of the phone) and my power widget has many more items. Sometimes they are tough to hit. Thinking I should have two power bars, each with different things so as so space them out more.

where did you find the nexus one template? i've been looking for it for a while

also, what background is that? is it live?

250x412.png

Resize your Screenshot to 250x412 for it to fit :)

The background is static, not a LWP. I adapted a graphic i liked to get the final wallpaper.

Currently giving GO Launcher a try. Like it so far, nice and smooth. Been too lazy to do much by way of customization.

It's black, probably 4.5" long, has a touchscreen on it as well as a camera lens and a flash.
