A "hyperbolic remark" is an exaggeration by definition. Hence, they are not "true" by definition. IF both are hyperbole, then neither is justified. What is justified is accuracy. Pure and simple.

This. There's been some REALLY stupid stuff posted on this forum the past few months. Stuff that this can't even begin to compete with. And it's not like one or two things, it's like every single post by at least 4 or 5 heavy frequency posting members.

Can you quote her saying that is what should have happened? I have no idea who she is, or what she believes, but I highly doubt you are telling the truth about her views. Show me you did not make them up, post her saying such things.

Both hyperbolic remarks are true in the sense that they're both exaggerations of the truth; the level of truth they represent is identical.

In case you're being serious, Ayn Rand was the author of books such as The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged as well as the creator of a philosophy known as objectivism. The prime concept that she espouses is that might makes right, or more directly, money makes right. Basically that so long as a person makes money that the goverment should get out of their way. And that if you were not making money, then it was your own fault and the government should not do anything to help, letting the poor rot.

Did you watch The Simpsons in the early years? If so do you remember an episode where a self help guru tells the town to be like Bart Simpson because Bart says "I do what I feel like." Then the town starts to fall apart because everyone is doing what they feel like instead of what needs to be done. That's an objectivist society in action. You may notice that Ron Paul's son is named after Ayn Rand because Paul is obsessed with her philosophy.

The irony of her situation is that in her later years due to lung cancer from smoking she had to sign up for social security and medicare, the government assistance she despised so much.
