I was just about to post the English term.

I hated it as a kid, but surprisingly enough, it always made me feel better.

My mother in law does this also. It kinda weirded me out at first, but I have learned to accept this as they also believe in ghosts and have mirrors in strategic places to scare them, and pictures of tigers to scare them.... sigh.... whatdaya do eh?
