i have a female coworker and she wears a long stuffed animal tail to work everyday

is she advertising that shes a "furry" or something along those lines?

she also seems gay, is it a gay thing?

where do you work that allows this?

Entirely inappropriate in a work setting unless she works in a comic book store or a comicon booth or something.

Wow, given the responses that I've seen, I assume most folks here don't work in the tech/startup industry.

Had a friend wear a stuffed tail around. She was defiitely into anime hardcore. Personally, I didn't mind it, though, I understand why oters think it's weird.

I am guessing your 4chan folder is somewhat lacking

Yup, should have known better.

I'm old enough that I don't know anyone who's a furry. Other than fuzzybabybunny.

We did have one ATOTer a few years back that I suspected was a furry. He used to be into the sexy fan art.

Apparently the whole sex thing is a polarizing issue in their community, according to Wikipedia anyway. Yet they don't seem to identify with cosplayers, who I think we can all agree are a boon to society. Especially if you've seen Jessica Nigiri's work.

I'd even rank furries below Bronies on the whole fandom scale. Because Bronies aren't taking it seriously. They're just out to have fun. Furries develop these weird persona's for their animal self. That can't be healthy.

Heh, i also had to look up yiffing.

Lovely. o_O

It gets less weird the more you look at it.

Or so I'm told. :hmm:

Anyway, what I think of such a person would depend greatly on how the tail in question is attached.

She probably thinks its cute. Meh, it's different but at least she's not afraid to be herself. It's not that much stupider than most trends.

Dun worry, with work that laid back, I don't predict many to be employed at that specific tech/startup industry.

The problem is that this person is making a scene by wearing this. Others must ignore the tail, or if they comment on the tail they risk some sort of retribution by the person or worse... HR. There is a reason why a dress code exists.

I don't think it means anything, other than they think it looks cool, like a piercing or tattoo. If I were younger and saw a girl with one they would win bonus points with me, unlike tattoos and piercings which are gross.

I think more than otters find it weird although it is a bit weird that you know what otters find weird
